Title: Tougher than it seems
Post by: vmes33 on March 08, 2016, 01:37:00 AM
Hey guys,

Figured I'd give discussing dip a try. I've been trying to quit dip on and off for about 6 months now and it is much easier said than done. Anyone who has quit and quit for good, I commend you. You clearly have a stronger sense of self control and I am hoping I can achieve that.

Remember you are not alone.

All the best -V

Hi, your past six months of trying missed a couple important tools: brotherhood and accountability. We aren't magically strong here. We are addicts like you.

Quit is simple, but as you know the nicotine addiction makes it very hard. Here is what you do to succeed:

1. Flush your tins.

2. Go to the June 2016 Quit group and say hi, post roll. Roll is your daily promise to use no nicotine in any form. Anyone can use no nicotine for one day.

3. Trade digits with your fellow quitters. A text or two can save your quit -- even when you are texting total strangers.

Don't, hope. Quit.

It's really no simpler than that ^^^. Take it one day at a time. By posting roll every day, we promise our brothers and sisters in quit that we quit with them, and will stay quit for the entire day.

By posting roll first thing in the morning, and by posting roll on weekends and holidays, we are making our quit as important as getting our fix used to be.

Accountability all day every day. It's not a secret, or magic, but it's been working for me for 47 days now.

Join us in quit.

Vmes,

Time to quit, friend. You know it. We know it. The stakes are too high.

We don't try. We do.

Oui?

Get in there. Taste freedom.

These are words of defeat. Nothing else. Basically you are saying, I'm not tough enough. I don't have the will power. I can't I can't. Really?? You can live in this fucked up world, somehow make it through the day but you cannot refuse tobacco? I think you need an attitude adjustment here at KTC and please leave all the negativity at the door. If you want to quit, your mindset must change or else you will be a slave to nicotine until it takes your last breath away.

today I am 6 months nicotine free. I was a 2 can per day dipper for half my life. If my quit was only based on my self control, I would have quit dipping years ago and wouldn't weigh 400lbs. I am an addict plain and simple.

Jump head first into this site and use it all you can. Post roll every day, reach out to other addicts and build a support group, read HOF speeches and Words of Wisdom, and build the fire of hatred for nicotine.

It's crazy how simple this site is, but amazing how effective. Post roll and make the promise not to use nicotine that day. Keep your promise.

Feel free to pm me anytime you need anything.

They are absolutely correct. It is a daily thing. I use The AA Big Book saying, Just for today, Self. A daily promise and a daily affirmation goes a long ways when you not only mean it, but you use it. Just when you think you have it licked, it licks you. Even the ol timers will tell you that it is a daily thing. We all have bits and pieces to the puzzle once we understand the puzzle. And we all have multiple copies of those pieces. So, if you need a piece reach out to a fellow quitter and ask. They will gladly share what they have.

I could go on and on but hey whose listening? I bet theres some saying I wish I had! get in here and quit!

V, just flush it and hop on board. The "Brotherhood", that says a lot, we hold each other accountable to the best extent we can, ultimately you are the one who controls your destiny.
We are behind you 100% of the way, I dipped for over 30 years and if I can do it, you can to.
I quit with you today.
