As I have heard from so many of you...it is time to put my addiction behind me. Self medicating and slowly killing myself out of habit seems like something I should have put behind me a long time ago. I have chewed for 35 years about a tin per day.
I am looking forward to the support of the people on this site. I am not looking forward to the next few days. I should mention that I am drinking too. That is hard for me to admit because it is a relapse for me. I haven't considered going back to AA meetings but as I write this, I know I will need that support too.
I have been divorced for two years and find that my addictions are killing relationships...because I am hiding them - dip and alcohol. It's frustrating and self-imposed. So looking forward to this journey even though I know I am looking at some serious pain to start.
Thank you for letting me join you all.

No reason to wait till midnight! Dump it and make today day 1. Another comment on your intro header 'nicotine free 2014' just worry about one day at a time that's plenty to deal with. Also just as well kill the booze too it has a tendency to kill a lot of good quits. You can do it, I can do it, we all can do it especially with the brotherhood and accountability.

Quit now-- how many times have you set a time/date, then it became "just till i'm done with this dip" when that time came and you had a dip in? Or "just one more, (fill in the date) will be the day I quit"? then just one more? Then "Just one more day" or "Just one more can" or ???? It's addict talk, creating fear to just quit NOW. What you have to do is jump in! Let 2014 be entirely clean, with a good head of steam from several hours clean leading into the new year-- flush all your chew and any other nicotine now, resolve to finsih the day without any more. Then wake up and do it again tomorrow, entirely clean and without a can nearby to tempt you!
Are you tough enough to really do it? Quitting is as simple as getting rid of it and keeping it out of your body, but it ain't easy. It may be the hardest thing you ever do- but this site will help you succeed if your mind is made up and you let others help you.

I gave up booze 12 years ago, and dip 4 days ago. You can do it. Start making a plan for what you're going to do with all your healthy free time. Drinking to make up for the chew quit won't get you through. Speaking from experience.

Oh, and by the way. Don't wait until midnight. DO IT FUCKING NOW.
-
I am not looking forward to the next few days.
At the risk of sounding a li'l messed up... You're looking at it wrong.
1) Start right now. While you're getting in your last dips, how do you know that between now and midnight you're not putting in your lip the "one" that irrevocably gives you cancer?
2) Start right now and enjoy every minute of suffering. It's the price of freedom after 35 years of being a slave to nicotine. It's worth it.

I remember stopping for a few hours on several new years resolutions. Only to start again before the day was out. How bad do you want it? I'll hold my breath.

Well bearhawk, can i stop holding my breath? I haven't seen your roll post this morning. Are you still quit, or did you even pretend to quit for a minute? Post roll my friend. Show yourself and us how serious you are. Life is so much better free from the poison. You have no idea what your missing.
-
Hey. He might be in jail from a hard night of drinking in the New Years. But then again, I've seen a lot of folks on New Years Eve that never got to live out one day of a resolution.
-
I forgot to go to the gym today.
Might as well devour all these leftovers and start my resolution to get in shape on Monday.
Wish me luck everyone!!!

Hey Bear, wanted to point out some things to you. And I'm putting in your info for you to refer back to in the future. And by the way that is a little side purpose of your intro page. Keep updating it over time and it becomes your own history for you to look back on, reflect, and learn from. Sometimes folks lose sight of why they are here. Go back to your intro to remind your self.
Keep in mind the KTC us free. The only cost is posting roll. Do it first thing every morning. It's your promise to yourself. To me. To the entire KTC community that you will not use nicotine in any way for that day. Just worry about that one day. Not forever. That's too much to handle. Just one day at a time bro.
I sent you my number and you responded. That is an excellent move on your part. Not because its me, but because relationships are part of the backbone of KTC. First you gotta do the work. It's you that has to make it through the suffering of withdrawals, etc. But next is building relationships. Build them so well that your too embarrassed to fail before those that support you. And build relationships so strong that you know if you fail, it will jeprodize someone else's quit and since you couldn't live with that happening, you push through and stay quit. That my friend is the Kool-aide of KTC. Know when a little kid drinksKool-aide and gets the red smile up on his face from the glass? That's what we are doing here. So grab a glass and join in.
Also. The thing about addictions reaking havoc on your life. Hey bud, your in like company. We are all addicts. That's why we are here. But here we are taking out life back one day at a time. ODAAT !!! Focus on this one thing. Staying quit. You will experience so much. It will change you. You will learn about yourself. You will once again be full of pride. And knowing that you are able to be Quit will give you confidence for all the other things in your life. Don't worry it fret over anything but being quit. It's gonna get foggy but don't worry. It gets better. The skies clear off. The sun comes out. And it's awesome.
Stay quit and ill quit with you every day !!!

hell yeah! Withdrawls, funks, triggers, fogs, rage, sorrow, alive, excited, confident, winning.
You have experienced it all. Now the cylcle continues. The bad times aren't as long and the good times get longer.
You are scaring nicotine. The mistress is now seeing that you meant it when you said it was over.
The war is there but now, you have the tools to treat your addiction and be successful.
Post roll, keep your word. Win today. Repeat evey time you wake to another "Today". There is nothing about tomorrow that you should focus on, prepare for or worry about when it comes to your quit. Its all about victory right now, right here and today.
