Title: Must Quit
Post by: kmfioc on September 24, 2014, 06:58:00 PM
Hello all,

I have to quit. I have known this for a while, but now I know that it is time. Been dipping for about 6 years. I was a smoker before that. I didnt really start dipping to quit smoking, I just tried dip and liked it better and therefore it replaced smoking. I always told myself that I would quit when I had children. Well I now have 2 children and my oldest is 3 yrs old. A couple of nights ago I started having slight pain in my jaw. This lead to me having a dream about telling my children that their father was ill and that I would not be there for them. And telling my wife that she was on her own. It scared me into being dedicated to quitting.

I have tried several other times to quit on my own unsuccessfully. This go around, I am grasping for help, because I can tell the addiction is strong at this point. Thanks for the forum. I look forward to visiting this site regularly.

KMFIOC,
Congratulations on your decision to quit, you have came to the right place.
All quitters (me as well) worry about about cancer and the worry and fear is a good motivation.
But eventually the fear of cancer will decrease and that is when the nicotine will try to lure you back.
Learn to hate nicotine and tobacco, read everything on this site, post roll and get active on the site.

Heya,

I am only on day 2 but I can tell you that the help around here is fantastic. If my pansy self can do this so can you! Get in a quit group and hang out in chat. Having peoples numbers helps I've found. I can bother fellow quitters whenever I get crazy cravings and they bring me back to earth. Just my two cents, glad to have you!

Congratulations on making a great decision. I am 63 days in and each day gets a little better. Drink tons of water these first few days, put your head down and plow through the fog! I will send a pm to get in touch.

Thanks for all of the responses. I've tried to follow the instructions for the roll call, but I'm unable to find it. Could someone help me out a a little bit. Mainly, I can't find the thread. I'll be reading the info on this site in the mean time. I feel I indeed all the help I can get. I'm very nervous, but determined at the same time.

I understand being nervous to quit but it's a whole lot more nerve racking sitting outside a doctor's office waiting for them to look at your mouth and take a blood sample to see if your white blood cell count is up.

Because you mentioned your kids and dreams, read this. It'll help get over any nervousness and light a fire about how important it is to quit now.

Welcome kmfioc.
Look at all the "quit Angels" that are giving their time to help you and they don't even know you. Welcome to the site that saved my life and will save your life too...if you let them.
You're not here by accident.
Prescription: Read all of the above everyday. Post roll every damn day. Learn your enemy for what it really is. Stick around and your quit will stick.
