My name is Amanda I go by Mo. I'm 22. I started dipping when I joined the Army. I want to quit, I know I need to quit. I worry about it though because I have anxiety and depression issues already and I'm afraid I won't last as a quitter. If that makes sense. Also my family doesn't know I dip, being away from home it was easy to hide it. Now that I'm home and want to quit I won't have the support of them because they don't even know I do it.
I know I'm giving a bunch of excuses, not what I'm trying to do. I'm saying these things because I am really going to need the support of this community. I'm ready. I've ordered my dip alternative and as soon as it arrives I will post my day one :).
Thanks for taking the time to read and help me out.

No better time like quitting than right now. Dump that shit while its on your mind. Don't wait for the fake. Seriously, read all the intros and you will find that now is the time. NOT LATER. Fucking dump and post day 1 in August...do it.
-
Mo no dip no Mo!! Sorry, but that was the first thing I thought to write. Make it your daily chant or something similar. Mo no dip no Mo!!
Thank you for your service but thank yourself by not dipping any longer. Many of us are a category to ourselves - that of the so-called "ninja-dipper" - so you're in good company. Still not sure when or if I'll tell my parents I dipped for 16 years. We can be your support now, and we are support that understands EXACTLY what you're going through. Your quit is yours, Mo. Don't worry about family. Worry about you.
Mo no dip no mo!!!!
-
Thanks guys and I think you're right I have the mind set right now to do this and make this commitment. If I wait a week will I have the same mindset? Probably not today is the day. I like the chant idea. My nickname is good for stuff like that. When I broke my toe and was hobbling around my friends called me slow Mo. Haha

Hi Amanda!
So glad to have another female quitter! Yes, there are a few of us here and all mostly ninja dippers...so you are in good company. We girls have been Bad Ass Quitters so I KNOW you can do this. I am on Day 144 of Quit and I wish I had quit when I was as young as you. I will send you my phone number through the Inbox on the upper right hand corner of this screen. Read everything on this site and the day you are nicotine free you can go into chat and get all the support you need.
I look forward to quit each day with you,
Sage

Dump it Mo. Now is the time, don't wait for the fake. Do it now while you have the desire. That desire may evade you for a decade. Anyone can "quit tomorrow" but the real quitters, "quit TODAY".
Please take a look at the welcome center:
index.php?showforum=13 (http://forum.killthecan.org/index.php?showforum=13)
Bottom line here
1. we don't "try to quit" here, we QUIT, we declare it each day and that's it, nicotine is off the table
2. post roll daily,ONCE YOU QUIT. You will be in the August group, if you dont wait to damn long. Then you might be in the Sept group, or more likely, no group at all. Posting roll that is a promise to yourself and your group that you will not use, this is necessary accountability. An addict without accountability is a USER
3. reach out for support, get in the live chat, try to meet a few quitters in your group,
Prepare for several days of "suck". You can do this. You already took an enourmous step......you signed up here.
I will quit with you today. I will be looking for your name on the roll. Let me know if you need any help navigating the site. All the support in the world is just a text phone call or e-mail away. And by the way, stay close to Sage, she is a bad ass quitter and will show you just how it is done.

Wow. You've got some heavy hitters cheering you on, Amanda. Ryan and sage both helped me through some tough times in my quit. They are master quitters. Reach out to them. Use this site. I second Ryan and the others about the quit now. Your mindset is there, go ahead and hop to it. Any of us on the site will help - if you would like contact info just let me know. Thousands of us have been successful using the tools and help of ktc. Join us.

Welcome, slomo. The key is to KEEP the right mindset. Your withdrawals and cravings will change from day to day, and you have to be prepared for that. Don't let your guard down on the easy days. That's the most dangerous trap I can warn you about. For me, mindset was the game-changer. The day I realized that my quit had to come before all else, this path became clearer.
Get some contacts. Send some texts or calls. Make some friends. Those will be your lifelines when the going gets tough. And believe me, it will get tough.
Shoot a PM if I can help any way.

I'm afraid I won't last as a quitter.
...
I won't have the support of them because they don't even know I do it.
...
as soon as it arrives I will post my day one :).
Hey Mo!
I'm happy that you've come to recognize it's time to reclaim what is rightfully yours - a healthy and nicotine free life. There a few things from your intro that I wanted to highlight.
1) Don't be afraid you won't last as a quitter. You don't have to last very long. Just until bedtime. You can do one day, right? Just get to bed, and you'll have accomplished your goal. We quit for today and today only. Let tomorrow take care of itself.
2) I understand that it's hard to let family in on your dirty little secret, but I strongly advise you to have somebody - ANYBODY - in your day-to-day life as part of your support system. Somebody has to know you're a ninja. Girlfriend, boyfriend, mailman... somebody has to know. Tell that person you quit. We will keep you as accountable as we can in this virtual environment. But having a face to look at every day who knows what your going through will be extremely beneficial to your success. We are the ones who will give you all the tools and guidance you need to be quit. But you need a face who will be an extension of your commitment here. For me it was my wife. Both times.
3) Can't say it enough - don't wait. The dip that's in your lip right now could be the one that mutates a cell. It's just not worth it. The world is filled with people who are quitting tomorrow. Here, we quit today. Now. There is no quitting. Just quit.
If you take the time to read all of the wisdom on this site, you'll find that you're situation is not very different than anyone else's. What I always find amazing is the industry surrounding nicotine cessation, when we've all come to realize this is the only place that really works.
You've posted twice - both in this thread. Make your next post a Roll Call post in the August 2013 quit group. You'll probably be the last one in.
Here's how to do it: index.php?showtopic=50 (http://forum.killthecan.org/index.php?showtopic=50)
And here's your quit group: index.php?showtopic=8141 (http://forum.killthecan.org/index.php?showtopic=8141)
If you wait another day, you'll be in the September quit group.
You can do this. You just have to... well... do it.

Welcome Amanda. Lets just do it today,, what the heck. Start taking your life back today,, it is the best day to start.
In case you didn't know you can go down to wall-mart and get smokey mountain. It's in the same section as the regular cans of poison. It is herbal and not bad for you at all. It will work until the other arrives, that's for sure. That is if your able,, don't know what your circumstances are.
I will be honest though, i also waited a bit until my first order came in. The fake is what i used early on. It is part of the reason i'm quit today.

Chew no Mo! There is a whole lot of quit in this thread. The quit ladies are pretty bad ass too. Sage is one of the queens of quit.
You can do this, you can quit. Also, if you go to Walmart, for Smokey Mountain, call first. That way if you get there and they are out, you will not be tempted.
I quit with you today!

Well today hasn't been to awful...my road rage was a lot worse and a few headaches. I tried smokey mountain and it made me puke. I don't know if it was the smell, taste or both. So I picked up some jolly ranchers and have gone through a lot of them. But I'm hanging strong and I'm going to take some crave rage out on COD Black ops 2. Thanks for the support everyone, really it means a lot!

My problem with smokey has always been the consistency. Feels like shreds of newspaper. Jolly ranchers are a great call. Put anything you want in your mouth, as long as it aint nicotine. It would also be wise to drink fucking GALLONS of water. No idea why but it helps a LOT.
I'm real proud of the progress you're making. I'm proud to be quit with you. Keep going. We're all watching and available at a moment's notice.

Amanda, good call on posting up. Read all you can on the site. The wisdom to quit lies within.
I love the avatar. Yodi was the guy that get me hooked on this site. There is no "try", only "do". You got this, its time. the next 2 weeks will SUCK. Embrace it, and never forget it. It is the price of freedom.
Just holler if you need anything. All the support in the world is at your fingertips. Grab some numbers from the August group, and I mean ASAP. They will save your quit.

'welcome' Smart move Amanda Mo. This is the place to be if you are serious about quitting, which obviously you are.
I have but one suggestion. Tell your family and friends of your addiction. You stated in your first post you hid it from all of them and would have no support because they had no idea you even dipped.
I hid my addiction from my wife and family for 15 years. I was a "ninja". I will tell you that breaking down , taking off that ninja mask, and coming clean was one of hardest yet most rewarding things I have ever done. The weight that came off my shoulders was unreal.
The support you will get here is huge, but having the support of the ones you actually SEE and live with on a daily basis, is the ultimate combo meal.
Of course this is just my humble opinon. If you disagree and care to keep it under wraps, I/we are here for you regardless.
You got this.
Proud to be quit with you.

You can't stand smokey mountain but you can the chew? I understand you! I totally get it. Anyway, I'll look for your post in the roll. Meanwhile stay as busy as you can and please forgive those little insignificant things like people changing lanes in your blind spot and red light running. You're just irritable now.

Dunno. Have PM'd her a bunch and gave here my digits... She never put out (oh yeah, pun intended) 'bang head'
