I've been trying to quit for about 3 years now and have finally realized that I probably need some help doing it.
I'm 27 and dipped regularly for 4 years, then first starting trying to quit a few years ago. I work on an oil tanker, and I usually try to quit at work. It's actually pretty easy for me to do, generally- I just don't go ashore when we're in port, so I don't buy any. When I get home and have some time off, though, I usually end up starting again.
I'm pretty familiar with the quitting symptoms at this point- weird mouth feelings, paranoia about any little thing going on in my mouth, fogginess- and can usually get through them easily enough. I just haven't been able to kick the habit for more than a couple of months. I'm really hoping that this is the time that I'm able to quit for good.
My last dip was on the 13th, and I've gotten through the fog. I signed on to my ship on the 14th, and will be on it until about mid-May. I have high hopes for making it through until then, but am worried about staying quit after I get home. Hopefully I'll be able to make it stick this time.

Thanks guys. I hadn't even realized that my wording was setting me up for failure- I'm not trying, I'm quit.

There are many terms and mindsets using in quit talk, but the bottom line is not using nicotine in any form. If it seems a bit like a cult, that's because it is! A cult that saved my life.

Congrats on the decision Tanker.
You can do this!
It looks very much like you are ready and willing to quit. And you are willing to learn how to do that. That's half the battle right there.
