Dropping a note to introduce myself.
Live near Worcester, MA. Married, got 2 little girls, 4 and 1.
4 days nicotine free, 16 tobacco free cuz I used the gum for a bit.
35 yrs old and been dipping since about 15, can't remember exactly.
Tried quiting so many times I can't count. But I'm determined this time.
Biggest regret is spending 3 years in a country where the stuff is illegal and not available. Instead of quitting I had friends send it and co-workers bring it!
Just found this site by chance this afternoon and I'm blown away by the support. I hope I can help others once my sh!t is sorted.

Good to have you, los.
If there's anything I can do (lend an ear or a PM, etc), let me know. Welcome aboard!

Awesome quit so far. You've already got the Nicotine out of your system. This is a great place to quit. Find the April 2011 quit group and post roll promising no nic today, keep your promise, do it again. Welcome and PM if you need anything.

I've got little girls about the same age, read the story attached to this link. It will help you get your "shit" sorted in short order.
You CAN do this.

Welcome. Quitters always win.

Thanks for all the offers for support.
Skoal Monster, hear you on that, and already read that article, what a kick in the gut that is. My dad died when I was about 12 too so it really hits home.
Always had the girls in mind to get me to quit. When they were born, birthdays, etc. But it always came and went with another excuse. Don't know what got into me this time but I'm all gung ho. Had enough of the BS I guess.
For sure the difference is support. My work offered a free quit service recently so I signed up. They sent me some gum, materials, and support services. Big thing was they helped me set a quit date, December 27. I totally forgot, and actually had a chew in when they emailed to remind me of the quit date. I figured well, now or never, and the journey began.
Add this site into the mix and there's no more excuses!

Fellow Masshole! Welcome aboard, Los. Something feels different about this quit, right? Good luck getting your sh!t sorted, being here seems to be a good place to do it.

Hey man, thanks for the welcome. Good to have someone local in the same stage. Hope you're holding up well. Will tomorrow morning be your first snow storm shovel without a chew too? Will be used to it by the afternoon!

Welcome, sounds like you know it's time. You're right about having no excuses now. If you need anything feel free to contact me. I live in Conn. also dipped since 15, 33 now, have a young daughter. I'm 44 days quit and counting one day at a time. Stay strong!

Yep, first shovel without a dip. Not super fun, but got through it. Guess there will be a lot of firsts.

There will be a TON of firsts, some worse than others. What I've found though is not having a dip in while doing X is now becoming the norm. Never thought I would be able to sit at the computer all day chewing gum but here I am. No dip= new norm!

Similar story. I was waiting for my work to figure out if they could help me (patch, gum, pill, etc.). Their system was only set up for smokers. This was in November. Found this bunch of quitters in early December, lurked for a while, got my mind right and set a new date. I'm here with ya, feeling the suckage 'bang head' . Nic free for 7 days!!! Damn it feels good!

This is really one of the great things about being quit. Everything is new again. Just wait till you cut the grass or wash a car without one. You will wonder why the hell you never did this before.
Get over the fear of living your life without a dip and start experiencing things with a clear head.

Thanks, all. Experienced another first, while out shoveling this afternoon. Seems my car was smashed by a plow overnight. Front right side totaled. So wanting to cave right now. But knowing that is not going to fix my car. Fuck!!!!!!!!!

Damn that sucks, sorry man. I went to log in and ask how you survived the storm, not what I was hoping to hear. But not caving was a good thing. Think of it as a test and you passed. Try to make the best out of a shitty situation.

Right on, Los. I am hanging my hat on someday being able to look back at *this* day and laugh. Just not feeling it right now. How was your shoveling? Was it heavy out in Worcester? Took me longer than I thought it would...

Yeah its easy to use shit an excuse. Not caving is a huge step, like getting rid of the spitters in your car and driving to work clean. You should be proud.
Shoveling sucked. News just said our town got 23 inches. Days like this make my ask why I ever moved back here! Did get to do some sledding and other fun stuff with the kids tho which is cool. At least the shoveling was a good workout, think I'll skip the gym tomorrow too, long ass day need some sleep.
