Title: New Chapter
Post by: bestrong23 on February 28, 2017, 10:46:00 AM
Good Afternoon,

I am new to the site but unfortunately not new to trying to quit dipping. Sadly, this will be attempt 5 or 6. After repeatedly failing and feeling ashamed of myself and my weakness, I decided I have had enough. I have known about this site for sometime now but never joined. I think partially it was because I deep down did not want to quit. I have a wife of 5 years and two beautiful and healthy children. Like many of you, I started underage (15) and regret ever taking that first pinch. Now, almost 11 years and countless dollars and cans later, I have decided enough is enough. I'm a full time firefighter and I get out of the military reserve this coming month after 6 years. These career fields are extremely tough to be around in regards to the use of tobacco daily, but I know I can do it. However, I could use some help along the way. Not just from my wife and kids, but also from those who have been in the same shoes and know how tough it will be. I look forward to meeting you all and getting through this struggle.

Thanks for your time,

Brandon

Strong, I think I can help relate to you. I dipped for a long time, started at 13, became a full time firefighter, Marine Corps OCS, I know how you feel. This process sucks sometimes. You will feel like shit pretty regularly for the first few weeks/months. Suck it up and deal with it without putting nicotine in your body and you'll be just fine. Learn how to post roll and promise first thing every morning not to use for that day. Take it one day at a time and keep quitting.

Glad you're here. It will suck and you will get through it. Get on the roll and don't look back.

You got this! Quit one day at a time. You will have all the support you need here. Post roll everyday, read everything you can on here. and keep your promise. Proud to quit with you and thanks for the service!

Soon to be day 4, going solid so far. Working a 48 so I have been steady at work, not thinking too much about it. Of course, it has crossed my mind a few times. I have only had to use 2 fake dips of that smokey mountain stuff.

Thank you for asking.

Good stuff brother. I used smokey mountain for the first month or so. Do what you need to do to keep the real crap outta your lip. It's worth it in the long run. The temptation is always gonna be there, but little by little the urges go away and get a whole lot easier to laugh off.

If the urges get too big to handle and you find yourself on the ledge, get on this site and binge-read everything you can find. This too shall pass, but it's a rough road. Stay motivated and you'll do just fine
