My name is John. I have dipped for 20 years, at about a can a day. Girlfriend father just told me a story about a guy he grew up with losing his jaw and it scared the shit out of me. With the Kirby Puckett and Curt Shilling all over the news, I have got to quit. Day one is today. Have a ton of gum and sun flower seeds.

Hello Hatfield,
You made a great decision to take back your freedom. Now to fully quit with KTC we require you to post roll daily and keep your word to not use nicotine in any way. So please read the welcome tab on the site. This is a great way to build up accountability. Also get to know some of your fellow quitters. We are all in this together. Drink plenty of water and embrace this feeling of the withdrawal from nicotine so that you will never want this feeling again.
-
And you posted roll! Make sure you drink a gallon or 2 of water, and exercise as well if you can. Get some texting friends in your December group as there people there new to their quits as well.

Hatfield134,
Congratulations on your quit, your story is similar to many on this site. Read everything on KTC and get active.
The fear of cancer is great motivation (it motivates me) but you will have to maintain desire to quit for years to come.
Stay strong and PM me for digits,
Charles

Welcome.
You will never regret quitting ODAAT.
We were not born with this poison in our mouths.
Stick around and your quit will stick.
Lots to learn, lots to read. I'm 2 1/2 years quit and still learning. Good for the brain and my health.
If I can do this, so can YOU.
post roll
honor your word
wake and repeat and you daze will stack up faster than a speeding bullet.
It's all in our heads, just got to get control of it. You can do this.
Cheers.

That's true fear of cancer is a good motivator but in the long run like spud said you have got to desire to live a life of freedom from nicotine. I read those warnings on the can, sat for weeks with a friend dying of oral cancer and still couldn't stay quit. Finally I got sick of being a slave and hating my lack of control.

Congrats on a great choice, John. Post roll, read everything you can and repeat. You really can do this, brother!!!

Congrats John and welcome to KTC. You can do it. We all had our day 1. Don't fret about anything but today. Take it one day at a time. My goal esp at the start was having the previlage of waking up in the morning and getting to increase my days of Quit number by 1. Each day was a new record for me because I was never able to Quit. Start getting all the numbers you can. Read all that you can here in the site. Check you inbox.

Congrats...you've made a good choice today. Keep making the same choice everyday and you will succeed. The one thing all of us here had in common is none of us was sure we would really be quit. But the more you get involved here the more you realize that you have all the tools to do this.

Thanks for the support. Made it through day one! Roll Called this morning and now working on the next 24 hours!
-
Congratulations hatfield — 1 day down! Now just take it 24 hours at a time like you said and you'll start rackin 'em up.
Remember, nothing is more important than your quit if you want to live the rest of your life.
I quit with you today, let's add a +1 to the count.

Day 2 is bad ass! Buckle up for the next couple of days, and you'll be nicotine free by the weekend! Nice job!
-
John how you feeling today? Staying strong?

Yesterday I felt foggy and just off. Just an odd feeling. However, no cravings to start dipping again. I just keep gum and seeds around me at all times, which makes the day a lot better. Finally my energy level is coming back. Those first couple of days were brutal, all I wanted to do was sleep. Now ready to just crush day 4!!!! Thanks for the support!
