Title: So pleased with this sight!
Post by: jonathanaz on April 28, 2016, 02:46:00 AM
Hey guys, 30 years old of which I chewed away about 13 years. I work in healthcare and we just welcomed our 3rd kid to the family. I essentially am tired of being a closet chewer and basic all around health and welfare hypocrite. I am about 4 days into my quit. Going ok, grumpy as hell , but my wife is an all-star. The "foggy dizzy light headed" awfulness is in full form. I have found being active and drinking as much water as you can stomach is all that helps. I am excited to get past this crap. Let me know what kinds of thing you used to distract your cravings. I can't do the fake stuff, I think my wife would punch me right in the face if she saw a fat dip in and spitting brown again.
I went on nicotine gum and mints for about 6 months. I would not recommend going that route. 1. It's freaking expensive 2. I feel like I was actually using more nicotine then what I was chewing in the past. 3. I personally can't taper a dose. It's all or nothing anyways so I wish I would have just saved the time and money and went cold turkey 6 months ago.
Good luck fellas, I know I need it.

He descended below all things, so that he may have a perfect understanding of our suffering. Keep your family close and look for ways to improve yours and as many lives around you.

Welcome. I started with the gum too, I wouldn't recommend it either.

After I quit the nic, I used sugar free chewing gum for my craves. I still do, but have managed to cut way back.

Others use sunflower seeds or hard candy. I tried shredded jerky once, but that brought back too many memories of the bad old days.

BTW, we don't wish luck around here. We just stay quit.

Proud to quit with you.

No luck, just quit. Posting roll and diving head first is the only thing that works................I used gum and a patch, and always came back to the can.

Day 4 sucked for me too, but the worst is now behind you, it's all head games now!

I never could have stayed quit for 404 days without this site. Information has and always will be the most powerful weapon in life. Understanding things about the fog, suck, what to expect, best way to take on tobacco, length and number of craves etc, gave me the information to find the resolve to quit. This site gave me power, confidence and knowledge to start my quit and to stick with it. I also no longer feel like a freak, as my story is about the same as many posting here. I am pleased with this site and thankful beyond words
