I just wanted to introduce myself. I'm early 30s. I'm an alcoholic with over 2 years sober but I started dipping regularly last Aug/Sept. Not my best thinking. Before that I would only have a dip once a month or so when I was drunk and with friends. Been dipping 3/4-1 can a day. This is the first time I've made a firm resolution to quit. Before it's always been, "well, I'll get around to quitting here soon."
Today is day 1. I threw everything away...dip cans, spit cans, anything associated with it. I'm going to stop by asking God to remove the obsession and compulsion to dip and with the accountability and information of this group. I was able to go from 36 drinks a day to not thinking about drinking at all and know quitting dip will be very difficult but worthwhile.
I just wanted to post for a little accountability and to thank everyone for the info on the site.

Shots - first step is to get over to the August quit group (http://forum.killthecan.org/topic/30223454/) and post roll.
If you found the site and signed up without having any idea what you were getting yourself into (which is exactly how I ended up here), then I recommend you read Here's How You Quit... Ball Is In Your Court Now (https://www.killthecan.org/heres-how-you-quit-ball-is-in-your-court-now/) to get an idea of what quit groups are, what posting roll means, and how things work here.

Ok, I read up and posted roll. Thanks for the suggestions. I'm having cravings, as you would expect, but it's all good. Going to try to get some exercise today, as I know that helped a lot when I quit drinking with feeling good, being able to sleep, and distraction.

exercise really helped me out a ton!! Ended up shedding 30lbs. Push a lot of water as well.

that is awesome....putting it in the Lords hands is great now you have to do your part...post your promise everyday and reach out and get some digits from fellow quitters so you have someone to reach out to late one night when you think you are having issues...it is invaluable to have that life line handy...quit on!

Day 1 wasn't that bad. Had several cravings. Just asked for the obsession and compulsion to dip to be removed from me each time, and it actually worked. I never had and ongoing craving that lasted any length of time.
It's crazy to me that a couple years ago I was an agnostic or atheist (somewhere in between) and now here I am praying for the obsession and compulsion for something like dipping to be removed from me and it's working.
I hear a lot about the nicotine being out of your system after 3 days. What does that bring with it? Any physical improvements? Or the onset of some withdrawal symptoms?

Day 3 and 4 were the worst for me, stick to the site like glue and buckle up!

Around day 12 13 were the worst for me but i thought everyday would be better than the last and its more of a roller coaster ride recovery for me. But over all getting better with time. Good job on the quiting and having a relationship with god does help. Untell couple years ago i was also non believer not anymore.

I'd agree with these two guys. If you expect every day to be better than the last, you're in for a bad time. There will be many ups and downs.
However, gradually it does get much much better. Eventually, if you develop the right mindset, you will thoroughly enjoy and take pleasure in being quit.

It's like a roller coaster to say the least. You are gonna have huge hills and peaks, and low valley's man!!! But the best part about it, is that each one of them get easier. I'm not gonna tell you that it's gonna be easy but I will tell you this. With the accountability that this brotherhood institutes, you will be successful!! 24 hours at a time!!!
