Names Matt, im 20 years old, Been dipping a can a day since age 17. Lately its got bad, constantly have a dip in my mouth. Went to the dentist about a month ago and told me a really needed to quit, Stage 1 Precancer had been formed, this scared the shit out of me and i just ignored the problem for the past month. Tonight, about a hr ago I realized it's time to give it up FOREVER. Im tired of letting the can run my life, determine my mood, determine my sleep schedule, and daily routine. I dont want to die at a young age, I want to live a healthy long life, be able to marry my girlfriend one day and start a family. Just want a reset button, but its to late for that, time to just man up and make the best out of the situation. LETS DO IT!
Shut the door. Shut it in your mind. Turn around, and walk away. Never turn back to that door. That's the way to kick this in the ass. You can talk all you want about quitting, but it takes a DAMN strong mental conviction to actually do it. You CAN do this. Your mind, and your conviction, is stronger than any addiction.

I quit with you today Matt!!!
Welcome to KTC and congrats on quitting my friend. Just take it one day at a time, don't look at it as forever, look at it as I quit for today and I will worry about tomorrow when it gets here. Forever is a long time but everyone should be able to quit for at least a day... I will quit with you all day any day.

  • Interests: I'm an ol' country boy from Texas: where I started dipping in the 8th grade over 37 years ago. The US Navy brought me to SO CAL in 1985. I got married to So CAL girl and remained here after I got out of the Navy. I love the outdoors; camping, hiking, hunting and fishing but mostly I love to do wood working. I guess now that I am not wasting money on crap I can have more to do the things I like to do.

Welcome Matt! Congrats on doing the right thing by engaging your dentist,  now heeding his advice. It's not too late for the reset button, you get to push it every day posting roll to start  finish each day free. Keep engaging your dentist, I'm finding that whether it's the doc, dentist, or both, passing health checks is really helping keep me motivated to stay quit

Chat is an awesome place to take back your life.

We don't worry about forever, we quit one day at a time here.

Since Evil talked to you in chat there probably isn't much to add.

So I will close by welcoming you and send me a pm if you need digits.

I'm glad that you found your way here Matt.

Start reading all that you can. I find the Introductions and HOF Speeches a great way to remind myself why I'm quit, that I'm not alone or special, and that quitting is a dynamic animal that never stops.

Drink a ton of water. Exercise. Fight each crave. Post roll early and then honor your word all day.

See you back in chat.
