Thanks everyone, This place is Bad Ass. The support is unlike anything I have ever seen. Another day no dip, and feeling really strong physically and mentally, but I know to keep my guard up. Thanks again. STAY QUIT

Great choice, Gomer!!! Embrace the suck, fight the nic bitch with everything you've got. There is a great "contract" on this site somewhere...read that before you cave.

Imagine the faces on all of those children and explain to them that you would prefer to spend time with your can than help them grow up in this world.

Golfing is a bitch for me two, but I did just what I recommended for you (I have 2 children). It is easier to turn it down when you recall just why you're here in the first place.

Stay strong, brother. Stay quit.

Welcome Gomer!

First off, sorry for your loss. That's a tragic situation, but if you can take a positive out of it by making a Quit commitment I think your friend would appreciate that.

Your already well on your way being 15 days in but be careful. The Nic Bitch is very seductive. Read as much as you can on this site and listen to the suggestions given to you. I know it will help you.

PM me if there is anything I can do for you.

Brian

  • Interests: Outdoor activities, riding bikes, taking my English mastiff for a ride, and eating now that I have quit. Food has become comfort to me right now and I will probably have to ask the vets help on that to.

Congrats on finding this great site Gomer and you are in good company here. The vets have the experience and time to give you all the advice and help that you need to stay quit. The best thing that I have found to help me out is to remember that I quit for myself first and formost and then quit for everyone else. To stay quit you have to do it for you and only you.

If you need anything just pm me

I have been quit now for almost 20 days. Had a 15 year 1+ can a day habbit. timberwolf straight longcut. I finally had enough and threw away 3 cans and hanve't touched the stuff since. I think the final straw was a buddy of mine died in a car wreck, he has a son about the age of my oldest, of 3, I couldn't help but think about all the years he had lost with his son because of an accident, and here I was robbing my boys of years of me spending time with them because of something I was choosing to do. Things are going really well, but did have my first close call last week after a round of golf and some drinks. A guy offered me a dip and I thought about it for a split second, but I was strong enough to stay quit. Damn glad to be here.
20 days is a good start, thats exactly where I'm at. careful, everyday is a different battle. this quitting has been a god damn roller coaster ride for me. one day good, the next a complete trainwreck. never know what tomorrow is going to bring, so just take it one day at a time. they say it gets better, but I think we're both a long way from better days......stay on this site, and read up, it'll remind you of why it is vital to stay quit
a strange game. the only winning move is not to play
