Also, does anyone know why I suddenly have to piss like a race horse every morning - EARLY - and now I can hardly make it the whole night w/o taking a leak.

I know this happens as you age, I'm 40, but it just started happening last week - ironically when I quit chewing.

Hey BobbyGOLFnc,

I can really relate to what you are going through here seeing as how I am also on day 7 I'm sure a lot of things are very similar. First off I would like to comment on your dream and feeling guilty about it. In my personal opinion a dream is just a dream and although you didn't feel guilty about it in the dream when you were having it in fantasy land now that your awake and back to the real world you feel very guilty. I would say you are doing well you realize it's not the right way to go but I don't think you need to feel bad about having that dream.

Second thing I just wanted to go over was golfing/chewing. Now it sounds like you are a pretty good golfer but for me I just liked hacking up a corse and having a fatty dip with some beers. I just was out over the weekend and it was very hard to have any decent golf shots when all your thinking about is having a dip. At this stage of our quit I think we just have to deal with it and stand our ground. Things will only get better and both of us can win the fight against chewing not only on the course but in life.

The last thing I will say is driving a 15-hour road trip without chew is going to be tough but very very do-able. Stick with your wife man it sounds like she's being supportive and not that I'm one to give advice on relationships but the more you talk the less you'll think about it. Good luck on your road trip and just remember everyone on this site believes you can do this.

Good luck golfing and have a chew free road trip man! You're right you can do this!
Thanks Stone!

I'm not a good golfer by any means, just enjoy playing. I do have friends that are multi-millionaires on the PGA Tour, but unfortunately they didn't share their talents w/ me...they just got me hooked on Cope.

After I played golf on Sat. I had a 3 hour trip back to my house (was visiting my parents)...I was tired and in the past I would chew to help keep me awake. So when I went to the convenient store to get gas, I went inside and "wanted" to buy a can...but instead bought a sugar-free Rock Star Energy Drink and some beef jerky. Not the same, but a hell of a lot better.

It seems that my cravings are early in the morning after my cup of coffee and late in the evenings...one day at a time, one day at a time.

Hockey is my biggest interest and when I'm not playing it I am probably watching it. When I'm not on the ice it's either fishing, hunting, or snowmobiling that takes up most of my time. I enjoy winter and fall when we have colder weather here which may be weird, but I just find hot weather annoying.

I didn't see a place to post thoughts, so I figured this would be a good place.

Today is day 7 for me. The first few days were easier than the last few for some reason. On Saturday I played my first round of golf w/o tobacco - and while it was challenging, I chewed many pieces of bubble gum and lots of sunflower seeds.

Another challenge was at yesterday's PGA Tournament in Charlotte. I was able to catch up w/ an old friend (PGA TOUR player) and he had a big fatty in his mouth and offered me one - I said "no thanks."

So last night I had a dream about caving. I went to the store to get a can, I didn't feel guilty about taking the dip - but I do feel guilty about having the dream. Does that make sense?

Anyway, my next challenge will be a 15 hour road trip this coming Thursday. Thankfully my wife will be with me, so I know I'll be okay...but it will still be tough. Driving long hours and copenhagen had always been my friend to get me through.

Lastly, thank you to everyone on this site for your continued support...I will do this.

Bobby
Keep up the good work. I am at day 57 and had a dream I was scooping up unknown used dips of 7-11 parking lots while a KTC posse chased me around and tried to stop me. I hated sharing spitters with friends and now I was picking used dips of the street! Gross.

As for golf, I like to think the greens are nicer where I play now that I don't leave brown trails on all of them!

Thanks guys.

Last night was brutal...usually I'm a heavy sleeper, but I kept waking up every hour or so. I was exhausted and just couldn't get to sleep.
I had a couple of BRUTAL nights early in my quit... hang in there dude. It's worth it in the end. You can't see it now, but the light at the end of the tunnel is a beautiful thing.

Bobby;

Glad you joined us in the June Group.

I'm a new guy, but I can attest to what some of the oldtime quitters say. It does get better. Much better. Hasn't gone away for me yet, but I guess you can't put 20 years or whatever in a trash can and expect it to sit quiet.

This site is motivational. The chat has helped me recently. Craves suck, but just dig in your heels, get through the fog, and you'll come out on the other side of it ready to kick the craves sqaurely in the nuts.

You will do this.

mns, congrats to you for your success!  Any tips to share?
Thanks Bobby! This site is a great tool. Stay close to it, get involved, get some phone numbers. Even if you never have to use the numbers they are good to have. Makes you extra accountable.
The most important tip I can give is simply do not put the bad stuff in your mouth or into your lungs for that matter. This will sound kind of strange but soon you will begin to enjoy the challenges of quitting. You will learn new things about yourself.
This site is by no means a magic pill. Ultimately it is up to you. This is a great group of people and I have even had the pleasure to meet some of them. Get to know them.
One other important thing I reccomend is visiting your dentist. It is like starting with a clean slate. Clean teeth and a clean bill of health. You also become accountable to your dentist.
If you need a number ask. I tell everyone however that I do not give it out lightly.
Great to have you here! Stay quit!

Bobby,

It's good to have you here, welcome!

This won't be easy, for me personally, it is the most difficult thing I've ever done. The best thing you could have done you've done already...join this site. There are tons of people here that will help you, encourage you and push you, but the we've all been thru the same battle...that nicotine fix. It's a battle like none other, but armed with all of the allies we've got here, failure is not an option!

Welcome aboard my friend.

Have faith, stay strong and stay quit!

MF
Fighting an addiction by yourself is hard enough, but fighting it with others who know what you?re going through and will fight side by side with you makes that battle a hell of a lot easier.

Today is day one for me.

I've been trying to quit for a while, but for whatever reason it was always just "one more can."

I've been to this site before and read the success stories etc...but finally last night I decided that I wanted to be one of those. I am tired of worrying if every sore or spot in my mouth was going to be cancerous, or chipping another tooth.

My name is Bobby, I'm 40 and I've been chewing Copenhagen Long Cut for the past 13 years (3 cans a week).

I can't tell you how many times I wanted to go the convenient store today to get "one more can" ... but instead I just sit back into my chair, stuff my mouth w/ seeds and read success stories.

Bobby
