Hey everyone, my names Mark and I'm 17 years old. I've been dippin' believe it or not, since the 7th grade. I'm approaching my senior year, I got plenty of life left to live in me, but almost a can a day since the age of 12 could end my life before its really began. I decided to quit about a week ago, it was the first party I had been to all summer. Me and some good friends and lots of good people just getting drunk and having a great time. Funnest night of my summer by far, now you think the next morning while nursing a hangover I'd wanna just relax and dip all day. As odd as it sounds this night made me realize how many more great memories I could make with my friends throughout my life, but if I keep chewing I may never make any more memories. So its time to quit. I've gone almost a week without a dip. I had one today unfortunately after about 5 days of going without one, but I did prevent myself from buying a can. I've been smoking about 2 cigarettes a day to get the nicotine buzz, but its time to end my nicotine addiction all together.

I'm buying a can of hooch snuff tomorrow, and I'm hoping my brother who is 25 and has been chewing for about 10 years will let me convince him to try it, and hopefully he'll quit with me too.
Good luck! Quitting is a lot easier if it's something you really want to do and not something someone else wants you to do. I dipped for 20+ years and never really wanted to quit. Then one day, out of the blue, I said, I don't want to dip anymore. The next day I cut back my dipping in half for a few days and eventually, over a two week period, got down to 1-2 dips/day. The next day, zero. I still have the can I quit with. Every now and then I'll open and take a sniff. This helps me, but may be too tempting for others. Been quit for 37 days and I seldom have urges as I did 3-4 weeks ago. The morning is my usual urge and then right after supper. I just place some smokey mountain or golden eagle straight in my mouth to satisfy.
Sounds like me except, I quit the night I decided that the dip that I had in my mouth was the last one I'd take.

Markus, you've come to a good place to get through your quit. We're with you 100%. You make that promise not to dip that day, and I'll make the same promise to you. I'm proud that it didn't take you 20 years to decide.
Romans 10:9 - That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

Markus,

Great job deciding to quit while you are still young! I started using nicotine around the same age as you, so I definitely understand where you are coming from. I am 23 now, and trust me, it doesn't get any easier to quit. Today is always the Best day to quit!

You need to read the Welcome Center and fully understand what it is we do around here. In short, we post a promise not to dip for the day, and we keep said promise. Sounds simple enough, and it is, if you're not a caving douchenozzle.

Again, congrats on your decision...now let's see that big Day 1 in November!

CC

P.S. You can not make anyone (your brother) want to quit, they have to decide that for themselves. Trust me, I tried the same thing. It does not work and it can potentially derail your quit...so, just worry about yourself and be an example to your brother. Maybe that will inspire him.
