^^^^ This quitter is correct. You'll never be "cured", but you can surely be QUIT. Basically, that means never again.... not even once.... for any reason. You've personally seen the result. The addiction will pull you right back in.

Hunker down and muscle through these first few weeks and it gets easier. It gets much easier.

Welcome! I'm a lurker too, but I've tried to get involved here, as you are now. Great decision to face your quit. Great decision to face the fact that you may need some help. Jump in with both feet, drink the kool-ade, and stick close to the site - the people here will work VERY hard to keep you quit.
*Quit today. Full stop. No qualifiers. Tomorrow?... IDK, IDC.

Introductions - Day 2
« on: March 07, 2012, 09:34:00 PM »
I'm a lurker by nature, but when I saw what you all were about I had to sign up. I'm a 39 year old man, who didn't start dipping until I was 33. In the last 6 years I've graduated to a can-a-day habit. I've tried to quit a couple times, but could never make it stick. I always found a reason to continue dipping after the first couple days. I tell myself "I'll only dip in the car", or "I'll only dip with friends while drinking." Sooner or later I'm right back to dipping a can a day.

My last dip was monday at about noon. Right now I'm about 2.5 days into the quit, and it sucks balls. My mouth is on fire from the salt from all the seeds I've been eating. I'm insufferable and a dick to everyone around me. I have waves of cravings. I'm embracing the suck, though. This is the last time I'm putting myself through this.

Thanks to everyone for the welcome in the forum and the chat. I won't be able to do it without you.
