Welcome to the best decision of your life Dave. Head over to that link and post your promise to quit for today. Tomorrow, wake up and head over there and do it again. Your story sounds pretty similar to mine, except mine was to impress baseball players while yours was to be accepted by soccer queers.

You can do this man, just keep it simple. Start by showing me you're serious and post your promise for today. If you need a number, PM me and I'll give you mine.
Atta Boy Dave!!

Welcome aboard, as you see from Seth's soccer comment that we try to have fun here too.
You already got the "starter advice" so I won't repeat.

MAN UP AND GET IT DONE... that's my advice!

This time is different, though.  This time I WANT to, instead of feeling like I HAVE to.
Good point, "wanting to" and "having to" are very different. If you are quitting because of somebody else, you will probably cave again and blame it on that person. Wanting to quit for yourself works a little better and will get you along, but this site will ratchet it up to "I Fucking Quit, Period", rather fast and that will keep you quit.

Wanting to quit, and quitting are still very separate schools of thought. Here I believe there is no want - there is only QUIT.

Read everything you can and get numbers, join your group and get the know your quit bros.

Stay Quit.

Hi everyone. My name is Dave, I'm 38 years old, and probably started dipping regularly when I was around 18. I initially started when I was around 16, because lots of guys on my high school soccer team were doing it, many were "cool" upperclassmen, so I wanted to be accepted. Just stupid juvenile high school perceived coolness reasons. I liked the effects enough to keep doing it, but that was the stupid reason that I started.

After 20 years, I think it's time to quit. I've tried to quit a handful of times in the past, without success. One time I actually did quit dipping.... but I switched over to smoking. So that doesn't count.

This time is different, though. This time I WANT to, instead of feeling like I HAVE to. I'm finding it much easier because of that. Granted, I'm only on day 3, but I'm no where close to struggling with it... yet.
