Hey, have any of you had this throat thing? I would appreciate any stories on it. I'm beginning to think I'm the only one with this pisswilly throat condition.
i can tell you beyond a shadow of a doubt that you are NOT the only person to have dealt with throat issues...

there's a variety of things that can go into a sore throat including but not limited to dipping, drinking, snoring, diet, smoking, etc.

the fact that you're getting one of those things out of the equation is a GOOD THING.

it sounds like you've got some reservations about quitting which is also normal... but you need to make a decision - http://www.killthecan.org/facts/chewie01.asp

are you going to quit for a little bit (until your next sore throat) or are you going to quit for life? choice if yours my friend... we're here to help you when you decide to push all in.

Hey Randy: Welcome to the 'spin' FunHouse. 'spin' I am 45 and A High School Counselor. Very simular story. Hang tight in your quit. You can do this. This is really the best time to quit cause you have a week off to quarantine yourself from others. I quit 51 days ago and I just basically locked myself in my office and did not show myself except when absolutely needed.

March is an awesome group of quiters and so is, Well they all are and tons of support here. come to the sight daily and commit for the day. It is how I make it.
welcome aboard.

Here is link to March. My Webpage

Welcome Randy!

You will be amazed by the positive changes that result from quitting tobacco.

Some of the things I've noticed:

* Better Sleep and snoring less
* More Energy
* Mental Freedom (no longer a slave to the habit __and__ no more hiding it)
* Food tastes better

Since we haven't gone through a cold  flu season, I can't say this yet, but I hope that I will have less sore throats and colds.

I wonder if your sore throat is from snoring at night? I would often have a sore throat after a night of bad snoring. It would sometimes last until early-afternoon. My wife would send me to the other room when my snoring got too bad.

Well this is my intro. I'm 46 yrs. old and have rubbed snuff for 20yrs +. I'm a school teacher. I teach high school special education so obviously I use my voice alot. I have been a lite user of snuff all along...two chews a day, less than an hour per chew. Five years ago my throat got sore...real sore. I saw an ENT and he said all clear no cancer.
Fast forward five years...I have cut down (had to cut down rather) to ONE chew every other day. My sore throat won't allow more! It's so sore I can barely talk all day. Saw the ENT last Tues. (he's beginning to think I'm the biggest hypocrondriac in town) and he said no cancer just an irritated throat.
My point is this....most people with any sanity would have quit five years ago. My wife says "just quit" but only you people know how snuff just becomes part of your life. How the hell can I wash the car or mow the lawn or anything outside without it. I started when I was 24 years old (way old enough to know better). I know that I got along without once in my adult life. I just don't want that ENT to tell me I've got a problem one day. I've seen the cancer photos on this website...I've also read some stories of people fighting throat and tongue on another site...JESUS CHRIST.
I'd like to puff out my chest and say "I'll never put that shit in my mouth again"...but to tell you the truth I know it's 5:30 pm and it's that time of the day. I didn't know quitting would be this hard. I've heard Wellbutrin helps...anything else? You wouldn't believe how many times I've cut back my chewing...only to make mental deals with myself (allowing just one more chew of course).
Hey, have any of you had this throat thing? I would appreciate any stories on it. I'm beginning to think I'm the only one with this pisswilly throat condition.

Welcome Randy. Stay close to the site for the first few days and weeks. read everything you can. Quite a few of your questions will be answered if you simply go to a group, any group really and start from that groups first day. Read it all. It will give you info on what is to come.

Post in your group and introduce yourself there as well.

You can do this.
Thanks for sharing that intro Randy. I'm also a high school teacher and found that my throat would get sore talking with students all day. I used more often than you did and have even taught class with a small pinch in the back of my mouth. My big thing was always trying to cut back by mixing my chew with herbal snuff. I'd open three of each and mix them together in a big bowl and stick the mixture back in the cans. Awesome. It always ended with me just going back to the straight up chew.

I quit over 200 days ago and it has been a very positive experience. I no longer worry about setting a poor example for my students and I'm more confident in all aspects of my life. It's crazy to think how much I let tobacco control my life. Every person has the potential to overcome any craves. It's your choice.

Welcome.

-Dave
