I'm a college Student who's having alot of trouble starting the process of quitting. I'm only 19 but after reading many of the posts I realized I don't want to have to deal with the pains and obstacles later in life that come with dipping, along with The big C (cancer). I started when I was about 15, so I have been dipping for 4 years. I recently went two days without a chew, which was easy because it was Thanksgiving Break. But as soon as I got back to school all the work seemed to pile on and the stress increased because it is right around finals time. So of course I abandoned my vigilant process of quitting and succumbed to the chew. I am hoping that by only having about one a day (versus the 1/2 to full can a day that I would sometimes get to) I can start quitting, and no longer be a slave to nicotine. I really love this site and it is the first support group I've ever really been apart of so I hope that it will help me beat this habit.
Listen up Johnny.
You're on this site which is a good first step.
Next step is to stop dicking around with the "one a day" bullshit. If you're getting by with one a day then you can get by with NONE A DAY!!! Dump the shit.
You are a young man early in your addiction. You might not think you are but yes you are. You're smart enough to know the shit is bad and you should stop.
It's good that you have seen some of the pain that we have gone through over the years trying to Quit.
Stop finding excuses to keep chewing. Things like, "stressful school work" and "I have my finals".
Guess what.... that's fucking life. You're going to have stressful moments after you graduate, at your work, with your family, etc.....
Get serious and Quit. Learn how to use this site and I promise you that it will work.
