Welcome aboard Nomo - I can relate in age and number of years of dip under my belt. As you know the first few days suck - it gets better. Post roll and keep your word. You're in the right place to quit. PM me if you need anything. I'll quit with you today - cheers!

Day 2 - I have been reading Taz's intro thread and find it very inspiring.  I am not going to sit here and wax poetic on my quit as you all know what I am going through....fog, mouth hurts, irritated with everyone, etc.  That being said, here's my story:

I am a married 33 year old father of a 3 year old girl and 1 year old boy.  I have been dipping a tin and a 1/2 of Skoal every day since high school.  I ninja dip in the office all day even though some of the other attorney's in our office head down for a smoke break every hour.

Bottom line, I want to quit this shit once and for all.  I could give you a thousand reasons why I want to quit.  I have tried to stop dipping for my wife, for my kids, for my health, etc., but I have just not really wanted to commit to quitting.  I commited to my quit on Sunday night and poured my tins out into the toilet.  Fuck it!  I don't like being controlled by this shit!

Thanks for the inspiration Taz!
My words weren't supposed to be inspirational for anyone, more of a cleansing for me, but I'm glad you found value in them. This site has more resources than you can believe, and you'll find them in the last place you'd think they'd be. Use everything you can find, and don't be afraid to reach out and ask for help from someone. We've all traveled down the road you're starting on...some of us multiple times. Accountability is the key...make your promise every day (and do it early every day) to not use any nicotine "today". Come back tomorrow and do it all over again.

Sounds easy, right? It's not. The next few days will put you through the ringer. After that it does get easier, but the cravings will sneak up on you the second you let your guard down. Make yourself accountable to as many people as you can...your wife, your doctor, your co-workers, your dipping buddies...but most importantly your new KTC brothers and sisters. We're here every day, going through the same thing for the same reason. We know where you are, what you're thinking, what you're feeling...we know. We'll also give you the most unwavering support you could ever imagine, just keep your word.

Get some phone numbers, email addresses, whatever you need to contact your support network and keep them handy. If you start feeling like you want to pick up a can, call someone and get their permission...seriously...if you can convince one of us that you absolutely need a dip, we'll take the heat for you. I wouldn't count on that happening though, so just give us a call and we'll talk you down from the edge. We even have a number of landsharks...I mean, lawyers...here who you might be able to relate to. I think I even saw a judge here somewhere. Never know when one of those will come in handy.

Stay strong, stick close to the site for the next few days, and don't worry if you can't get shit done at work...it will pass. PM if you want my number. You got this, and we've got your back. Glad to be quit with you today.
