So...

Where are you?

The fervor is always strong the first day or two, but unless you are really ready to quit... You won't.

If you are new and reading this, let edhudson be a lesson to you. All of the writing in introduction is going to do nothing for you, if you don't find your group and post every single day.

There are 100's of men and women in this forum that are anxiously waiting on you to step up and show you are serious about your quit. You have to take the steps to get there. You have to WUPP (wake up piss post) EDD (every dang day). No one can do it for you and no one is going to twist your arm and make you.

edhudson, should you come back and decide to get serious, I'm just a pm (private message) away!

I am on my phone so this may be short. I have chewed for 35 years and yesterday I quit. This would be the 3rd time in those 35 years. Last time was about 18 years ago after my daughter was born. I lasted around a year before I broke down and bought a can. So here I am again !!! Life is good and I feel more ready this time.
I ended up coming home from work early today, the fog was bad and I felt like I couldn't focus on anything else besides my desire to have a dip. I went cold turkey since it has been the only way I have been able to in the past.
Ed,

Kindly allow me the pleasure of welcoming you to the Fraternity. My name is Jim; I'm quit since 11 November 2016.

So you want your quit to stick? Firstly, accept that you - edhudson - are an addict. Now, now...no reason to hide your head in shame. We're all addicts here, self included. This means accepting that we have a permanent, lifelong affliction which will require perpetual abstinence from all nicotine in order to stay free.

I think of recovery from nicotine addiction as being on a par with being paroled from prison. Sure, the parolee is on the outside. However, there are terms which the parolee must follow - such as maintaining gainful employment - if the parolee wants to keep parole. I recommend reading my signature line for more information on that concept.

So...welcome to our Fraternity. I hope to see more of you. Post roll every day, and keep your word. This time, it's gonna stick.

The 2 times before when I have stopped were from quiting cold turkey. I have tried quitting Manus more times from cutting back, nicotine gum, jerky chew, mint chew etc. The 2 times I stopped for any length of time were from cold turkey, I know it works for me. I do believe I am ready to quit for good. I am more mature, I have a better relationship now.
Those were not quit, thoses were stops or pauses. You are an addicit. Once your comfortable with that, then you will really quit. You only quit once.
There are no circumstances in which using nicotine will improve the outcome.

Water. Drink so much water that you cannot pass by a restroom without using it. Then, just get through today. Mosey over to the April 2017 quit group and join in the conversation. They are going through the same thing you are. They will help you through it, and you can help them through it. This is how it works.

If you went cold turkey in the past, whats different about this round? Is this just another attempt or is this it; your done and willing to do what ever it takes?

Awesome Ed! Great you are here! Post your roll every morning! Recognize the voice making all the excuses is the addiction. You become you by saying no to the voice of addiction. Be strong and each day is all you can focus on. Stay quit. I am 11 days quit after 25 plus years. Can a day. Si feel better than ever . I still deal with small things, but overall this system works. Be accountable for your quit. April fools killing it
