Thanks for the words of encouragement fellas. I'm still new into this quit but I really think I'm doing quite alright. In previous years, I never really saw the reasons to quit, so I never really had it in my mind that that's what I needed to do.

At the end of 2012, I decided to stop drinking for various reasons but never really saw the merit in quitting dipping. I made the change of leading a more active lifestyle and healthy diet during this past year. However, it wasn't until about half way through 2013 that I started to question why I needed to slam down a whole can of Grizzly Wintergreen a day after dipping for nearly 6 years.

It's been roughly 10 days now and I haven't really had any of the super physical cravings I've been reading up on. While I do not ever estimate nicotine lightly, I largely feel the big thing for me has always been the social and mechanical aspect of dipping. The smartest decision I ever made was ordering a case of Jake's Mint Chew. This stuff is absolutely mind blowing. Since I don't drink, my biggest dip trigger always was needing to dip while at home listening to music.

Take right now for example.. I've got a "dip" in, just jamming away and have no desire to see the welfare bear at all. Are the two products close? Not by a long shot... But it's enough to keep the bad stuff away. One of the best lines I've seen here has been "I'd rather chew a can of the fake stuff everyday for the rest of my life than touch the real stuff". One day at a time! But I wish I would have found mint chew a long time ago.

Thanks guys!

Cincy - the previous three posts are from bad ass vets that are letting you know that you can do this thing. That's saying something. You're young and the stats for young guns aren't good in this game...do you have what it takes to buck the trend? If you do, then I suggest you get to reading every damn thing you can on this site.

Swap your digits with some guys/gals in April 2014 and get connected and accountable to them. This will vastly increase the chance of your success. Proud to be quit with you today. Own your quit for TODAY. We'll worry about tomorrow if/when it gets here.
"I am a nicotine addict and there is nothing I can do about it; I am also a quitter, and that, I can do plenty about." - Grizzly25

Today I choose to quit because today is the only day I have control over today. Tomorrow is a new day and when tomorrow is today, I'll control it too, but not until then. I will win this fight with today...

I hope you read everything on KTC in your years of lurking. If not or even so read or re-read everything here. The knowledge is power adage truly applies with nicotine addiction. Own your quit.

Man, I have a suit as old as you. I must of tried to quit a thousand times only to crash and burn after a day or two. The accountability you'll find here is what keeps us in line. Our addict minds have no problem lying to ourselves or the ones we love but when some stranger sticks their neck out for you in an effort to help you save your own life, screwing that dude over becomes a tough proposition.

I'm not sure why that is, it just is.

So, if you're here to stop for awhile that's all well and good. You're young and will probably make it back. If you're here to take control of your addiction over the long haul, you just gotta step up and post your promise every day.

I've been browsing this site on and off for a few years now. Turned 25 recently and after 6 years of being an addict I decided it's time to go another route. January 5th was the last dip I have had. The mint snuff reviews here have led me to keeping the social aspect alive without the harmful effects. Thank you.
