Congrats on a great choice, Rob. Post roll, keep your word and repeat. That's all there is to it. Read everything on here. The more you know, the better you'll handle this. Like for example, nicotine doesn't remove stress. It relieves your craving for nicotine. Your body starts to throw a fit when your nic level runs low. You don't really crave tobacco, you crave a chemical to make the anxiety stop...you crave nicotine. It wasn't "the routine" or "the habit." It wasn't the "alone time" or anything else. It was simply the physical and mental desire to get a fix.

Nic is a powerful drug. Develope a good, healthy hatred for the Nic Bitch and all things related to American Tobacco Companies. You've taken the first step. Now let us help you with the rest. Great choice, brother!

Day by day you'll begin to see a change. It's gradual and frustrating and painful and... you get it.

Stay on the path... freedom is around the corner and it's better looking that you'd ever imagine.
Well, it’s one louder, isn’t it? It’s not ten.

Glad to have you Rob. Read the hell out of everything you can find on the site, and don't be afraid to use those numbers. Accountability is the key to your success in taking your life back. The more you dig in the more accountable you'll become.

Great job posting roll. This is going to be rough, but it will become easier. You're brain will come up with all sorts of reasons to throw the weed back in your lip. Don't listen. Use gum, mints, water, seeds, fake chew, whatever you can find to fight down a crave. Exercise is a great way to get through the day. Most of all you will have to grind. You made your promise for today, so I am quit with you. You can do this.

Way to post roll today Rob, stick close to the KTC site, use Live Chat if you want, it's a great resource, and drink water all day. I quit with you today.
Great job posting day two! Stay close to KTC as much as you can and keep reading. Get some #'s from your quit-group and vets, and reach out if you need to. No one can help you if you don't ask for it. You can do this.

Rob, I commend you and your choice to quit! There are several statements in your first intro entry that make me urge you to click the welcome center tab and start reading because you need to educate yourself if you want to be free from nicotine...

It is not ritual or conditioning: it is addiction! We are all nicotine addicts here; dipping was the delivery system of choice, but nicotine has made us addicts...

You have never QUIT before; you only had a stoppage.

What is your plan? I have not checked yet but if you want the help and support of KTC, then you need to post roll in the sept. 14 quit-group. Promise not to use nicotine for 24 hours. You can keep that promise for 24 hours right?

Read everything here, and follow the path that is laid out. It will not be easy; esp. at first, but it is quite possible... PM me if you have questions or need anything.

Welcome Rob. Glad to have you aboard. I'm in your quit group (day 8 for me today). Your story is pretty similar and you will find many others that have ones just as similar. Didn't want my wife and kids to see the dip so I also would spend 20 minutes or so in the bathroom to get one while moronically dodging my family. Glad to say that after only 8 days, I already know that it's not necessarily that I'm a jerk (although there's probably some truth to that too), I'm an ADDICT. That's a really hard realization to come to, especially when you take so much pride in being in control of your life, shape, athletics too (wrestler here as well). However, once you get there, the power you take back from nicotine is amazing.

There's a PM in your box from me. Use it any time you need to. Don't even think about returning to slavery until you convince at least two of your quit brothers or sisters that it's a good idea. You're making an awesome decision to take your life back before it's too late. The first few days will suck, but take it out on us on the site. We can take it, and we remember that fog the first couple days.

Glad to have you here, and let's kick some nicotine ass bro.

Hi all,

I joined the site today and wanted to introduce myself to the other members.

I have made the decision to give it up for good today.

I have been chewing tobacco for about 10 years now....since I was 18 or so. The frequency of use has been a few tins a week, but recently in the last few years I have upped that to a tin or two per day. It has sneakily become a major part of my life. I dip in the shower (which sometimes makes for oddly long showers) and when drinking. I don't chew for most of the day but when I do I pack monster lips. It has become a ritual for me...and a major stress reliever. Long day at the office? Can't wait to get home, take a long shower, and pack a lip. Obviously this is not the best thing to condition yourself to look forward to.

It all started late in high school and college when, as a hockey player and grappler, I couldn't smoke due to the effect that has on cardio. So the group I hung out with would chew tobacco instead.

Recently, I began getting very concerned about oral health. I researched online stupid questions like "how long until I might develop cancer". I was unable to find a solid answer....some people seem to get it fairly quickly while others have chewed for years with no cancer. I took a trip to the dentist and had them do a pre-cancer screening. They did not find anything yet for which I count myself lucky. But it is inevitable. So I have quit today.

I previously quit a few months ago and I lasted for two weeks. This time I plan to have it stick.

I would appreciate any support from the community.

Thanks,

Rob
Welcome Rob and congrats on your choice to quit!

Remember that you have been an addict user for over 3000 days. (I used for over 7000, duh.) It will take time to flush the shit out of your bloodstream and find your new normal. I, and a bunch of other quitters, are here to help. The quitters on this site will help you save your life if you let them.

I sent you my phone number in private message (PM). Let me know if I can help you post roll. Or, send me a text if you feel the need to use. I will remind you to look at a current picture of Tony Gwynn. Send me your digits. I will remind you to post roll if you are late. I expect you to do the same for me.

I quit with you today!
