I didnÂ’t know why I hated full face helmets until I quit. I couldnÂ’t spit with one on. A few weeks ago I did 2339 miles on my bike with a full face helmet. It was awesome. Every time a bug smashed the helmet I just smiled knowing that if I wasnÂ’t quit it would be splattered all over my face. IÂ’ve now had a FatherÂ’s Day quit. ItÂ’s all about milestones for me. Bike trips, pole top rescues, on calls, new camper purchases, everything is better not chewing. I tell the strangest people my number count just because IÂ’m feeling proud. A fun ticket of days is a bit intimidating but IÂ’ll be there soon enough. Fun tickets are $100 bills.

May he turn their ankles so we will know them by their limping.

I came from a household of smoking parents. I stole smokes from Dad when I could. My first chew was gross. I came back to chew once I figured out that I could do it in class. IÂ’m talking 9th grade. IÂ’ve chewed or smoked every fucking day since. Sure IÂ’ve had some short quits here and there but nothing like this. This is some place that I can come and read that IÂ’m not the only one doing this. IÂ’ve never talked about myself this much to anyone but my wife and bestest friends ever. When I say to people that I make a promise on a website, it sounds small and insignificant. I canÂ’t find the words that can describe what this place is doing for me. Thank you.

Welcome, Ken! And I agree - understanding that what I was battling was an addiction was what made this quit my final quit. There are so many resources here - go over to the "Facts  Figures" section of this website - and you could spend hours and hours reading articles to help you wrap your brain around it all. And I recommend that you do.

40 days quit is quite an achievement. Keep up the awesome quit!!!
Just one and you will be back to where you started, and where you started was desperately wishing you were where you are now.

My Journey

Hello IÂ’m Ken and IÂ’m an addict. I didnÂ’t know this until I came here 39 days ago. That simple way of thinking and saying what I am has changed my outlook. Sooory that I have been here so long and not done this part of participating. ItÂ’s just that I havenÂ’t looked any farther than my Jackhammers of June and posting roll.
