Howler...

You were back on the site last night. You read my private message that I sent you. I'm sure you read the comments that have been directed your way here.

It's time for you to step up. Don't let not knowing your way around a computer that well be an excuse to keep you shoving that poison in your mouth.

I love your quote, "okay, I quit, now what?"

It defines this site exactly.

I quit - a decision, one that only you can make. We can't help too much with that, but it doesn't matter, you've said it all right here. You don't know what the consequences of quitting are, but you do know that continuing dipping is worse. Great choice.

Now what? - like gmann said, just keep livin. It will be painful and you will hate life. Briefly. That's why were here. We cant make it less, but we can make you prepared, we can give you motivation and accountability, and oddly enough, we can keep you entertained about it. And as you get through it, you will begin to feel the freedom. It's great. We'll get you there. You've already made the hardest step, the decision.
I borrowed from Wooderson, of course. But like so much of Wooderson's advice, it's spot on.

So, I am 46 yrs old and have chewed for 17yrs. I have quit a dozen times but have never tried a program or web site to help me quit. My question is what here will help me? I am not very computer savvy so how do I get the most out of this site? I quit today and threw all my cans out. Thanks in advance
Howler,

Computer issues aside, you have passed the biggest hurdle so far...you decided to quit. Now it's a matter of how bad you want it.

I'm going to give you a road map to read. Make sure you come back here to this page as home base after each step.

First, click here to see what you can expect when you quit, then click here to see the symptoms of quitting.

Next, click here to read the Welcome Center. Concentrate on how and why this site works. You'll notice that posting roll is the backbone of this site. Post roll daily, no messing around. Do it early in the day, hopefully within a few minutes of waking up. Keep your promise. Use this site and its tools to stay quit. Sleep. Repeat.

Next, click here to see how to post roll. It's not the easiest thing in the world, especially for someone who isn't quite computer oriented, but I think that video will help you. Regardless, TRY! Do not give up. As far as where to post, you will be part of the November 2012 quit group. It will be in November when you hit your 100 days, so that's your group.

Those are the basics.

Outside of that, drink as much water as you can, exercise when you get bad cravings, and stay close to the website as much as possible for the next 3 or 4 days. Read as much as you can, check out the Live Chat (link at the top right of the page), and ask questions and participate in your group.

Lastly, going back to the can is a choice. The next week or so is going to be tough. It's gonna be hard. There's no way around that. It's all in how bad you want to quit. Post roll every day, early, and keep your promise. We are here to help you through. We are your brothers in this fight. Rely on us to help.
Lot of good advice I agree with it all check your inbox(1) upper right I'll introduce myself.
Howler,

Welcome!!! Wedge laid it out for you. Simply follow what he said. But I want to add my 2 cents...

You were wondering what this site can do. I honestly don't know how to answer. I quit more times than I can count...always failed. The ONLY THING I did differently this time was use this site...the ONLY THING!

I don't know how it works. But giving my word to a bunch of other like-minded people who actually knew what I was going through made all the difference. When I signed up, I actually thought this site was stupid. I considered myself a "light-dipper" (whatever the fuck that is?) because I took small dips and I never was a can a day type. (I'm not only an addict, but I'm an idiot too). So I figured I was a little better than the average addict. I felt like I didn't need to post roll, but that I would do it for the first week or two, maybe get to the HoF then quit doing it.

But then the support started coming in. I had to get help on how to post roll (like I said, idiot). But help came. I started reading people's stories...they were exactly like mine. I realized I was in the right place. These poeple knew...they really knew. The accountablility set in. I was fighting addiction with people just like me. And I sure as shit wasn't going to let anybody down.

It wasn't too long before someting I thought was stupid became my new way of life. I owe alot, maybe everything, to this guys on this site. So, what can this site do? I don't know, but it did what I needed it to do...allowed me to be quit. And it can do it for you, brother. Don't think, just post roll and be quit. You got this, Howler!

The knowledge and accountability on the site are 2 elements that make this site unique.

You will want to read as much information as possible also read thru the experiences that many of us have had they will sound familiar!

This site is a great platform for support and the guys here are always willing to help just drink the kool-aid and like you will hear from many of these guys embrace the suck!

Goto the welcome center to read more information on what to do and how to do what we do.

Post roll every morning and promise to your quit group that you will quit for the day and repeat the next day, sounds very simple.
The big thing is many of these guys can help if you let them so trade some numbers and start to build your accountability.

PM me if you need any help!
