Congrats on a great choice, Frye. Couple of things...

Nicotine helps with stress? Shit no. It relieves withdrawal symptoms...period. That's all. Have you ever heard of a doctor advising anyone to use nicotine to help lower their stress?!! Nope.

Don't feel stupid...stress relief is a common rationalization among addicts. It is amazing that there isn't even one non-nicotine addict who thinks nicotine is a viable alternative for stress relief. But you'll hear it all the time in the intro's on this site. A cancer diagnosis, chemo, jaw removal, feeding tubes, tongue removal...those sound stressful to me. And nicotine won't do shit to relieve those.

First, learn how and why we post roll. Then do it. After you've posted roll, read everything you can on this site. You will learn about yourself and addiction from people who know. I know what you're thinking...how? We're all addicts.

We know bullshit when we see it...because we used to believe it too. But you can be a bad ass quitter. You've got what it takes. You've taken the first step. Let us help you with the rest. YOU CAN DO THIS!!! Post roll, keep your word, and repeat.

Hello Everyone, first time using site and trying post, So hopefully this works. I am Chris, and have been Chewing for 32 years of the pouch variety. My addicition has finally decided to effect me with a Tooth being pulled on 1/2/15. So I have been tobacco free since midnight of that day. Chewing was a habit that I was unwilling to stop and relaxed me in stressful situations. My Wife and children have been trying to get me to quit for over 20 years, but i would tell them it keeps me grounded and sane. I believe with it costing me a tooth and the pain I have endured last couple of days, plus having to chew food on left side of mouth for next 30 days, i can now feel like I will no longer be a slave to this habit.

I feel being a former athlete, watching and attending sporting events, Hunting and Fishing , and stressful situations will be a tough process to go through, but I am going to live each day with my body being tobacco free.

looking to forward to helping and getting help from this site and making strides on a daily basis.
Hope you're still around. It's a tough battle, but keep with it.

Sorry to be a wet blanket but the loss of "1" tooth and some pain accompanied by nagging family I just don't see what it takes. I lost most of my teeth (between those 35 to 40+ years of dipping), had gum graphs and went 100% ninja so I wouldn't have to face family. Time to realize that you are an ADDICT!!! (Not a bad habit). Time to admit what a slave you've been and hate what nicotine has taken away from you. Think about it.
