Hang tough Scott! You only have to suffer thru it one time. Enjoy. It will help you remember to never do it again.

Push thru, bro. I know I slept a lot those first few. But whatever, just hang in there  know it'll get better.
Haha, that's exactly what I feel like doing. Last night I went to bed at 8:30 thinking that sleeping would at least put me out of my conscious misery. Understanding that I normally don't go to bed till after midnight.. And surprisingly, other than some violent shakes the first hour which kept waking me up, I slept like a baby all night.

Welcome scott! The hardest thing I find with nicotine replacements is that they were made for smokers. Chewers, especially those who chew 2.5 cans a day like yourself, will feel virtually nothing from the gum, in my opinion. Or at least I never felt like it never did any good in the past. They say it only takes a couple of days to flush the nicotine out of your system, so bite the bullet, save the money, and do without. The hardest part is kicking the actual habit - which ruled our lives. We are a team here. Read, read, read. Write, write, write. Any time you need help, just holler! You can do it!

I did the nicotine gum thing yesterday and half today, but I think i'm going to get off that stuff too..just delays the inevitable.
Its not going to be easy, but in time you will look back and remember how bad it was at first, and it will serve as motivation for never again. Congrats on a great decision, best of luck man!
The Nic gum blows! Just got Cold Turkey and get it over with.....

It's not easy - but it can be done. We are proof. And yes life gets to be better then "normal".

Quit Yesterday
« on: March 27, 2008, 03:49:00 PM »
Hello everyone. What a great site. I just found it today as I'm sitting here in a deep, dark and relentless fog..haha. Today is day 2 for me.. I woke up yesterday, had one last morning dip of Cope LC, and that was it. I honestly have very little memory of life without dipping...I've probably been dipping since I was 8 or 9. The area in Oklahoma I'm from, everyone did it. Well, now I'm 37, and the bitch still rules my life. As of yesterday, I was on a 2.5 can a day habit. I am tired of every new year saying this will be my last year, yet never stopping. My problem has been...I've never wanted to quit. I loved it. I savored every dip. I looked forward to the next. I never imagined a life without it. I don't want it anymore..And it's scary. Will I actually be able to enjoy life without it? I have never done anything..ANYTHING without it. Not that I remember anyway..

Anyway..enough of me ranting for now. I've joined the July 2008 roll call and I'm on it. I did the nicotine gum thing yesterday and half today, but I think i'm going to get off that stuff too..just delays the inevitable.

Thanks everyone
-Scott
