Great choice, Shunter. (Just guessing that is your last name?)

Seriously, check out the Welcome Center. Read the Tom and Jenny Kern story. You're damn right about quitting...you need to. And the good news is you can. Check out the Quit Groups section...not just your own, but click around. Look at all of those names. Now think, all of those folks have been right where you are. Pretty cool, huh? You are among bad ass quitters. And you can be one of them...one day at a time.

Get involved, post roll, read all you can, then re-read everything. You got this, brotha!!!

This is my first day discovering this site and I want to say thank you to everyone who makes it what it is. Today is only my second day dip/nicotine free but reading all the articles on here today has motivated me tremendously. I've saved many articles to my favorites on my work computer so whenever I have the urge at my desk, I can browse at an article that will instantly kill that urge.

I'm 28 years old, live near Cincinnati, Ohio and have dipped a can a day for 13 years. I have my first child coming in June and realized more than ever that now is the time, I HAVE to quit. My wife never really pushed me that hard to quit and I decided that now I have something more to live for and need to set good examples for my daughter.

Saturday night I fianlly said to myself "this WILL be my last dip" as I finished off a can before bed. I'm not going to use any nicotine alternatives because I want to kick the nicotine addiction at the same time as the tobacco addiction, just beef jerky, oregon mint snuff and sunflower seeds. So far it's not too bad. Headaches have now gone away, i'm a little irritable, but mainly just foggy. The worst is right after meals. In the past I made half ass attempts to quit just to cave in after that first big meal. This time I've made it further than I have before and I know the first couple of weeks will be the the hardest. I look forward to reading posts from everyone aout their journeys and learn more about what to expect and how to deal with it. Thank you all.
Welcome in bro.
Get yourself up to the Welcome Center link at the top of the page. It tells you how and why we do things here. Right now the most important for you is getting involved in your quit group... July '14. We quit everyday here... not for forever or some other frightening concept. Just one day at a time. If I can be of help let me know. Rock on...
Mathew. Lets see you post that day 2. Read this: index.php?showforum=13

and post day 2 here: index.php?showtopic=9756
