Day 23 and going strong!

Loving my Sultan bros, and the whole KTC community. Chat has been awesome!

Yesterday I had two moments in which the nic whore decided to try to seduce me. The first was when my son was trying out for a select baseball team and the head coach was talking to me with a mouth full of poison. I admit my first reaction was one of weakness, but then it turned into pity for him. He's still trapped, and is a slave. If my son makes that team, I'm going to work on this guy. Try to turn him around.

The second is when I got a new phone. I have been an iphone user for a long time, and yesterday I got a Samsung Galaxy s5, and I was trying to set it up and learn to use it, and I was just starting to stress a bit, and she came a knocking. Telling me that I needed her to stay calm and focus. I dismissed her call, and proceeded onward.

She's always there y'all. Always.

Hi Landdon - you and I quit around the same time and pretty much the same reasons...TG's passing and a 3 year old grandson starting to imitate his Gramps with the spitting thing. Chat also has been a huge help. Stay quit and PM if needed. Old ES

Just wanted to give an update on me. I'm on day 8. Going strong. Got some digits to call if I need to get some extra help. I've been going to chat several times a day. I go to chat really after meals which is when the urge is strongest. Nothing I haven't been able to handle. Been doing seeds and gum and have been doing great. I'm posting roll daily with the Sultans (not a good idea to forget roll with the Sultans btw. Wow!). Overall, I'm doing really well. I've reached out to a couple people and offered my contact info. So, keep quittin' yall!
I've chatted with you before. Day 8 is a fine quit started, and you got digits and a plan. I like where this is going!
Your record is 8 and 0. That means you are winning, continue to add tools to your kit and stay vigilant. You can do this some relief is coming soon so take advantage when it does! I'll quit with you all day!

Hello. I just joined as I needed a place to just talk about this habit I've had for so long. Today is day 1 for me, and it has been pretty bad. I've eaten way to much, and have chewed a two packs of gum. I'm hot and sweaty, and I am not in the best of moods. My wife and kids are all supporting me in this by not stressing me out to much today. I've been a user since I was 16 years old which means I've been using it for about 28 years. My son who is a baseball fan just learned of Tony Gwynn's death and learned it was from cancer from smokeless tobacco. He came to me yesterday and basically asked me to stop as he didn't want me to die. I decided right then that I needed to stop.

So, day 1 and I am not happy. Thanks for having this place to vent about such a disgusting habit.
Welcome landdon, some constructive criticism for ya.... This is NOT a habit, this is an addiction. We are all addicts here, we are no different then the junkie with a needle in their arm (except for our poison is legal and readily available at every gas station in the U.S.) You need to accept the fact that you are an addict. Secondly, you're quitting seems to be a knee jerk reaction to your son's reaction to Tony Gwynn's death, while there are many quitters here who's quits started as a knee jerk reaction to something they all realized that to stay quit your reasoning must be selfish. You must quit for yourself first and foremost. Take these suggestions/criticisms for what you will, but I don't think I'll be alone in my observations.

Now that i've said my piece, once again welcome. If you want to stay quit you have come to the right place... if you follow the beaten path here there is no doubt you can quit. This is not a site for hand-holding and ball stroking, this is a site for quitting your nicotine addiction. My suggestion is to jump in with both feet... try live chat, read everything, post as much as possible, and be sure to connect with your fellow Sept 14 quitters.

If you need anything send me a PM.

You didn't arrive here by accident. You're here to take your freedom back. The poison will kill you, it is real.
This site will save your life...if you let it. The support and power here cannot be bought with money. It is bought with your daily word given each day your feet hit the floor.
It is very simple, yet probably the hardest thing you've ever done.
1. Post roll (your promise not to dip today, just today).
2. Keep your word all damn day. (your word is good, right?)
3. Wake and Repeat.
Welcome to the best of your life....read and learn. Chat and grow stronger. Get digits and gain support and accountability.

You can do this....40,000 quitters are not wrong.
I did this, so can You...It gets better, I promise You...
Just take nic off the table for Today. ODAAT and NAFAR = One day at a time and never again for any reason.

Cheers.
Keeping my jaw and tongue...I like them.

Welcome. Follow the Ktc path if you want to succeed. You're going to find that we have 2 issues with your opening statement:

1. This is not a habit, it is an addiction. Big difference, read up on it. All the resources are here if you dive in.

2. Quit for yourself and not your son. I know it sounds harsh. But if you don't do this for yourself you will either fail or continually resent your family. Neither one if those are good.

Welcome aboard, read everything, post everyday, and make some friends. I quit with you today.

Landdon,

Welcome to KTC. First and foremost, what you have is an addiction; not a habit. You will never fully recover from addiction, you will always be an addict. The goal of this brotherhood is to help you become and remain an addict in remission. From this point forward, your goal is to stay quit every day, one day at a time. There is no such thing as "just one" pinch, drink, drag, cigarette to an addict. You have to stay clean from this stuff forever or you will end back up where you started. Capisce?

Landdon,

Welcome to the Sultans of September....way KTC works is you post in your HOF Quit month (month in which you will hit 100 days nicotine free). If you quit today, that would be sometime in September.

MCO (an old veteran) found your post in June....we'll get you moved over into September.

Remember, read everything you can about this addiction....no one ever died from nic withdrawal even though it may seem so while it is SUCKING. Check your PM (private Message, inbox at top right corner) for digits.

As old veteran NOLAQ Says.

Post roll (every damn day) -- welcome center shows you how to do that, and instructions are in our daily post
Honor your committment to yourself and to your quit group
Repeat.

Easy to say, damn hard to do when your brain is full of fog....that's why we're here....to help you through this, but you gotta want it.
