Glad to have on board Kasper. One thing I read on this site that has resonated with me and should resonate with you is, "you'll never wake up the next day and say to yourself, I wish I had caved." Ditching and destroying the supply was a solid first move, now as we say embrace the suck, remember it, hold it close. Then, promise yourself that you'll never go back to the suck. I'll be quittin' right next to you one day at a time.

Congrats on a great choice. I didn't "plan" my quit either. It just happened while watching one of those shows about 9-11 survivors. I found this site about 9 days in and the rest is history.

Go to the Welcome Center link above. Learn how and why we post roll. Then read, re-read and re-re-read.

Embrace the suck...it is the feeling of healing, brother. YOU CAN DO THIS!!!

When you state that you got rid of every can did you flush or burn them?  If not do so.  If your addict brain is at all like mine you are not against dumpster diving for a pinch when necessary.
Flushed! I've made it this far, I know I can do this. I just need to give up beer for a a couple of months to seal the deal. I know my weakness.
Well done brother. I pissed away some money at first too, but now I can brag about how much money I have saved. Just remember to do this daily. Holler at me if I can be of any assistance.

I just quit for new years.  I wasn't even planning it, I wanted to, I told my wife I would several weeks ago.  I usually have my first dip by 8AM.  I was a little hungover on new years day (yesterday) I didn't get a craving until almost noon.  I thought that if I had made it this far, i should see how far I could go, dare I say a full day.  Well after making it through last night I think I'm done.  I woke up this morning got rid of every can I had.  These cravings are hitting me hard, but a life saver and some deep breaths and it goes away.  I had no idea just how cloudy by head would be.  I feel drunk almost.

Welcome to KTC. When you state that you got rid of every can did you flush or burn them? If not do so. If your addict brain is at all like mine you are not against dumpster diving for a pinch when necessary.

Next, quit daily, post roll as that is your promise to stay quit.

Meet some fellow quitters, exchange phone numbers.

Then just like the shampoo bottle says "lather, rinse, repeat"...do that until you are quit.

I was an addict for 24 years, I quit 172 days ago and I will consider myself an addict until I am quit for 24 years, then I will reevaluate if I am an addict still or not.

Read everything that this site has to offer. Hell get to know a few people and you might even make a few new friends along the way. The cost of admission daily is posting roll (doing the minimum); stay quit and start to do more than the minimum as well.
