Happy 1 week quit !

That milestone is fresh in my memory.
Although there's lots and lots of ups and downs coming, that day, I knew I could stay quit ODAAT forever.

Stay the course. Stay connected. Stay strong. Quit hard!

Jperkins,

Welcome to the group. Here are some words of wisdom I like to share:

The main way to be successful is to just decide that you have quit. Once you stop the negotiating in your head as to whether you will do one more or not the rest becomes far more simple.

Next, you will learn to distract your attention from your desire for a dip to anything else that interests you. This ability to change your focus will guarantee your success and make your quit that much easier.

When you place a dip in your mouth, your brain releases sugars. Well, those sugars are now going to be gone.

However, you can replace them with OJ or other fruit juices with sugar. This will provide some comfort, especially on your initial quit days.

Make sure to exercise with weights and cardio when you feel that nagging tension in your muscles, you feel that rage, when you can not sleep and when you cannot focus. Exercise really helps.

Here is one that most people overlook. Get at least 3 square meals a day. Hunger can really bring on those urges so squash those urges before they come. Eat full healthy meals and do not let yourself get excessively hungry. You will see this helps a great deal.

I waited until I was 59 quit after using tobacco for 40 years. You are wise to quit now.

I quit with you today.

DOOFUS (DAVE) Day 98 here....skoal mint and many other forms of tobacco for 30 years.
College athlete, everyone chewed, SO DID I .....not now, not ever again. All the shame, embarrassment, secrets, guilt...its all on the way out. If you proceed with your quit, you are in for the best feeling in the world.....freedom
You can't change history, but the future is a wide open book, write it-one day at a time, get educated, you are an addict....just like me, just like all of us....YOU CAN DO IT, this site, The KTC way, it works.....read my intro in my signature below, make friends, friends with vets, classmates, we are all strangers to each other, but we all got something in common.
We help each other here. Total strangers, addicts. I see you have a daughter, be open about your quit, go to the dentist if you can swing it, get an exam, you will feel better.....history can't change, but today you quit, tomorrow will soon be today and you'll quit....day after day, we call it ODAAT....reach out to make contacts in PM, build a network, modern technology allows for simple posts and texts, this is how we win.

My intro is below, keep communicating. You need to bond with your July group and post your promise every day

Yes, you'll notice the info in my links came from WildIrish, I got that info from another brother who got it from him, I liked getting knowledge, we share our experiences here, you need support to do this but it works.

Welcome jperkins109! I too quit dipping after 38 years, at the age of 56. That was two years ago. I've learned a lot in that two years.

First, don't quit out of fear of cancer. As you advance in your quit, all those little things that make you think you may be getting cancer disappear. Then you start thinking it's not as bad as you thought, and you can start dipping again.

Quit for your improved health. I quit to reduce my blood pressure. Nicotine does some really bad things to your body in the long term. Do some research. You'll find a lot of reasons to quit just to improve the limited number of days you have left on this earth.

Find my introduction. See what I've been through. You can do this. You only have to quit for today. Anyone can quit for a day.

Hi,
I am on Day 4. Surprised at how well it is going. First 3 days not so great but the headaches are gone and the fog has lifted. I'm not going to lie though I am worried. I have been chewing Copenhagen for 38 years....holy crap.....that is most of my life! It has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. When I was in high school all the ski racers did it and it was no big deal. Even in college I was pretty out in the open with it. But as the years went on and I was in relationships and working real jobs, I never told anyone. I was so ashamed. It is so gross. I lived with my boyfriend for two years and he never knew. My 16 year old daughter has discovered it on more than one occasion and I always lie to her. It is awful to have a hidden secret. Don't know exactly what made me choose to be done now but I think 38 years is long enough. I don't want to tempt fate anymore! I worry about cancer all the time. I had a dream the other night that I had mouth cancer. It was a horrible feeling. Maybe the universe is speaking to me. Whatever it is, I am done. So happy to have found this supportive group. Several people have reached out to me already and it really helps to have the support. Thanks much. Cannot wait to still be posting roll on Day 100!

Welcome.

You took the first and most important step by attempting to post roll. You can find instructions for posting roll at the top of your quit group page, or read this.

Don't worry about screwing it up. The only way to screw up roll is by not being on roll.

Post roll early evry day. No days off. You didn't take days off for dipping, rght?

Read as much here and on the main KTC site as your schedule will allow. Get to know the guys in your quit group.

Proud to quit witjh you.

Tell us a little about yourself! Glad to see you quit!

How long did you dip for?

Make sure to stay hydrated during this period, I had luck with naked's green machine fruit juice personally for some reason during the first few days/weeks it seemed to help a little with the fog.
