Welcome LTCD, Hang on for the ride. I thought my first week wasn't all that bad either. It got to me more later on. I am still using the SMC and it has helped a lot. I still miss my cope but not nearly as much. Good luck and stay close to this site. Let me know if I can help in any way.

Welcome, we all react different to the quit. I am 96 days quit after dipping for 30 years as well. I have had a very easy quit in my opinion but i have learned one thing from my last quit. I quit for just under a year before and thought i could have just one. We all know how that goes. Anyway, now im 96 days quit and it has been a pretty easy quit once again (Thank God) but i have learned to NEVER put my guard down. She is a sneaky bitch and she is constantly trying to get back into your life.
Be happy your quit is an easy one right now and it may remain an easy one but dont ever let your guard down.
Quit date: August 11th 2008

  • Interests: Gardening, bicycling, and just appreciating and admiring the world in general. However, I have temporarily set that aside for a spiritual journey into a world that is comprised of only three elements: sunflower seeds, herbal tea bags, and sugar-free chewing gum.

Hi,

Not much to tell you haven't heard before. I started with Cope when I was 12 and have been using it for the last 30 years. Before that it was Levi Garrett plug, Beechnut, and Tinsleys. Tinsleys....thats a blast from the past....

I read someones comment about keeping a diary/journal about quitting....you know all the reasons why, etc. Wish I had because I can't remember exactly what made me decide to do this.

Sometimes before I would fall asleep at night I would think about quitting and just the thought would give me a nicotine fit. So I prepared for a weekend of curling up on the floor in a fetal position chewing my nails up the wristbones and just got on with it. And guess what...it hasn't been bad...the first day was a little bit different...was very careful to keep the fingers away from the saw blades, but I've felt really good. No serious cravings or fits so far. My teeth and gums don't hurt anymore. Although I think my blood pressure is up from all the sunflower seeds. I've tried some herbal chews and just having something to poke under the gum after a meal seems to work. So anyway this is day 5 and I'm feeling pretty good, not to high or to low.

Anyhoo......just thought I would ramble while my dinner warms....ya'll take care..
