Good morning @JerryGarcia67 Welcome to the forum but first I would recommend that you join the Sept 2020 quit group and start posting your promise. There is a whole bunch of fellow quitters over there that will help make your life get easier together. Here is the link https://ktcforum.org/index.php?topic=16478.0 and just follow the directions. If you screw up or don't understand just ask, somebody will fix it and show you how. The issues you are going thru is normal as we all have had issues like that. Just think that you coated everything with tobacco spit and all the crap in chew for 14 years. Now you stopped and you are cleaning your teeth everyday and they hurt. You are getting the junk off and you have no protection right now so I think that your gums need to toughen up and heal. I had an achy feeling and I know that some people had bleeding gums which I did not have. I had a constant feeling for about two weeks similar to after you get your teeth cleaned and they scrapped extra hard. Even today at 150 days in I get weird teeth sensations for half a day. I had some other issues that took  over my quit which I would not wish on anybody. Matter of fact its time to post an update, so when you get time go on over and find my intro and you will see. But yes welcome and get on the daily roll and post your promise, this is your quit but there is no need to go it alone. We are here to help and we love to help each other. Need anything let me know in a pm, don't share digits on the site or in forum only in pm. We share digits to help each other stay true to our promise but by sharing digits it becomes personal. When it becomes personal it takes on a whole new meaning and that just builds our strength to stay quit. Hope this helps and let me know if you need anything. Stay safe, safe strong and God bless.

great advice. I’d just echo to add your promise to Sept Quit group now. You’ll have an organized group of quitter in similar stage of recovery. Their page is here

You won’t regret this important step. It’s a long strange trip without being connected to fellow addicts. See you over there @JerryGarcia67

Day 48 ... thinking dentist trip?
« on: August 01, 2020, 05:41:03 AM »
Hey all, this site has been a big help for me the past few weeks. I quit in the middle of June after being a can-a-day dipper for about 14 years.

About two weeks into my quit I started noticing a brownish plaque form on the bottom of my teeth where they connect to my gums, in addition to intense sensitivity on my teeth, particularly near the plaque.

Neither the brownish stain nor the sensitivity were an issue until about two weeks after I quit. I had read it’s best to wait about 30 days before visiting a dentist, though I’ve been putting it off hoping my teeth would become a little less sensitive before my visit. I’m afraid if I go now I’ll have to be put under in order to handle the pain of a cleaning.

Anybody else experience anything similar or have any advice? It’s not that I’m afraid to face the music at the dentist (after all, I quit — how hard can they get on me?) I’m just worried about how sensitive my teeth have been.

Thank you all for your help making this process a little easier
