* Are you ready to rule your own life...
« on: January 25, 2009, 12:36:00 PM »
Well….it’s been just over a year since I quit. I didn’t write a HOF speech, because in my mind, 100 days wasn’t long enough for me to celebrate anything. That’s not meant to take away from those that do…hell quitting for a week is a big deal – just ask any member of a new quit group. But I dipped for a little over 30 years, so I knew that 100 days didn’t prove anything to me. But quit for a year? Yeah…I’m feeling a little more confident. But I don’t think I will ever feel completely confident that I’m quit for good. And neither should you. We are addicts, but at least we are educated addicts. Through the use of this site and the resources it provides, we now know what needs to be done to keep the addiction in check. We have the knowledge, we have the means, and we have the tools. Those that have made it 100 days or 1,000 days are proof that it works…they know how to use what’s available to them.

To those thinking about quittingÂ…donÂ’t focus on how your addiction got started, itÂ’s irrelevant. Instead, focus on what needs to be done to put an end to it. If youÂ’re reading this, then you are just a few mouse clicks away from gaining all the knowledge you need to get your addiction under control. The choice is yoursÂ…and you know in your heart, that the excuses for not taking those first steps are as empty and useless as that last can of crap you threw away.

Within these pages there are numerous ways to help you on your way. Experiment with all and find which is right for youÂ…and stick with it. Accountability will be the biggest thing. ItÂ’s the premise that this site is built around. Accountability to yourself, mostlyÂ…but also to the friends youÂ’ll make along the way, as well as not failing in front of those you canÂ’t stand (I donÂ’t know which is more powerful). But there also lots of other things to help you quit. Is it a daily brow-beating from fellow quitters that you need? Trust me; you can have it if you need it. Do you need medical and scientific facts and horror stories? TheyÂ’re in here too. Just need a place to rant or something to distract you during those rough patches? You can have that to. ItÂ’s all hereÂ…just waiting for you to finally decide that enough is enough.

Have you had enough? Tired of risking you health? Tired of throwing all that money away? Tired of obsessing over where the hell that stupid little can is? Tired of those around you nagging you to quit? Just plain frickinÂ’ tired of having something so small control your everyday life? WellÂ….itÂ’s entirely up to you. You are all-powerful. But let me warn youÂ… you had better mean it, because quitting wonÂ’t be easy and it wonÂ’t be fun. It will be hard as hell and it will test your willpower. ThatÂ’s the price youÂ’re going to have to pay to get you life back. But trust meÂ…it worth it. ItÂ’s worth all of it, and then some! You will be healthier, more attractive (OK, maybe not everyone), and certainly have more money in your pocket. But most of all, you will be in control. ThatÂ’s priceless. I wish you the best of luckÂ…but ultimately itÂ’s up to you. I rule my own life nowÂ…ready to rule yours?

I’ve made it 1 year because I used the tools made available to me. Within that tool box I include everybody on this site that I’ve ever communicated with. Whether it was joking around, ranting, insulting, or supportive… all played a part in keeping me quit. Some more than others, but all helped in their own way. Most of all, I’d like to thank the admins and moderators of the site. They do take their job serious and are there for you when you need them. And of course I couldn’t have done it without the help of the most retarded quit group ever to be formed – May ’08. Thanks guys. I am most proud to be associated with you.
