I lay in my bed, eyes half closed
Wheezing and sighingÃ,….is this how it goes?

It hurts to breathe in, I cough all the time,
But not like you, blood comes with mine.

Goddamnit, I want a cigarette so bad
I can taste the smoke stillÃ,…..I start to get sad.

They were with me so long, while weakÃ,…or strong
They stayed with me longer then people IÃ,’d known.

They were always around, like a very close friend,
How ironic it is that they caused my end.

WhoÃ,’s that coming in? My wife, my son?
NoÃ,….go awayÃ,….this is not how itÃ,’s doneÃ,….

Daddy, I love youÃ,…..will you be around
To see me walk in my graduation gown?

Or go to the movies or swim at the beach,
You always told me youÃ,’d be within reach!

My wife, my sonÃ,….I wonÃ,’t be around.
IÃ,’m 30 years old and let you both down.

I draw my last breathÃ,….this IS how it goes.

SoÃ,….IÃ,’m a nicotine addict. Always will be. IÃ,’m a smoker but my close friend BBJ directed me to this site when I told him I was very serious about quitting. He said it didnÃ,’t matter that IÃ,’d never dippedÃ,…..nicotine is nicotine. He and all of you saved my life. And IÃ,’m forever grateful for and humbled by that.

All of you Brothers, HOFÃ,’ers, and NEWBIES, STICK WITH THE POSTING EVERY DAY!!!!!! There were days I didnÃ,’t feel like posting but I did it anyway. And whenever I got the urge to light up, somehow, this little pledgeÃ,…..this little groupÃ,…..this little KTC site would creep back into my head and yellÃ,…..WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU THINKING!!!! You can quit. You can. Do it for yourself. Do it for your wife, your mom, your dad, your kidsÃ,…Ã,…but do it for YOURSELF!!!!! The sense of strength and pride I have for making it to day 100 is something I never thought IÃ,’d feel. And this is just the beginning...(don't forget that)

And now IÃ,’m never gonna be the guy I wrote the poem about. No way. When I dieÃ,…Ã,…IÃ,’m gonna die healthy. And so will you.
