Smokey mountain has really helped me out. It is a bit of a crutch and quitters from years ago had hard time stopping fake crap but if its the difference between caving and quitting use it its a tool. I figure not using the fake shit is problem for another day.

Way to quit. Keep up the fight. Be on your guard. When you think you start having the quit under control then the crave monsters will rear their ugly heads.

Just a forewarning so you are not surprised.

But you already know that when it happens that you need to distract your attention and focus on something else.

Going on Day 9.

You guys were right, posting does help. I am feeling pretty good with the exception of some serious anxiety on day 5 and some tough cravings here and there. I have been using the Smokey Mountain stuff to help and am curious if it's helped others.

The support has been good and has kept me honest. Thanks Jeff and Samrs for the help when I started. Still a long way to go but I'm feeling good!

Don't wait to post roll until you get it figured out. Go in there and post your dang promise any way you can get it down on paper. PLENTY OF PEOPLE ARE IN THERE RIGHT NOW F'N UP ROLL! You know what though, that doesn't matter at all. All that matters is that you post your promise to all of us first thing in the morning that you will not use nicotine for the day! That's it! That is the price of admission and the only way that KTC works ( brotherhood and accountability)!. Without posting your promise to us, to not use nicotine in any form for today, then all you are doing is reading about the negative affects of chewing on the internet. Thank you, that was extremely powerful and something I needed to read. I must say, I did feel a lot better today with minimal cravings but I know I'm not out of the woods yet by a longshot. Once I figure out how to post roll on a phone, I will be doing that. Im feeling really confident this time around, more so than before so days like today I'm having a very positive outlook. Thank you both for your kind words and advice, I will need them from here on out.

Read what Samrs wrote, then read it again! This dude is one bad ass quitter! Also, Happy Birthday to your little girl! I have a daughter too and the Kern's story really really helped me in the early days. I want you to first go to January '18 Pre-HOF Group and get on roll! ( Wake up, Piss, Post, Every Damn , Day). This simple process is how Samrs made it 271 days quit and it's how I made it 340 days quit! Post your promise not to use, early and every day. Keep your word and you can't fail!

Hey Dad-

I have been thinking about you a lot. Lately I have been crying every night. I don't know why but I feel like the pain is getting worse. It has been 6 years already, but I swear I remember it like it was just yesterday. I remember mom waking me and nikki up in the morning saying it wasn't good. I remember Julie driving us to the hospital. I remember going to Walmart to get swim suits because we were going to go to john and shell's and run through the sprinkler, until Dave called my phone and told us to come quick. I remember coming to the hospital scared of what might come next. I wanted to run out to the car to get my CD that has the song "Dance with my father" that I really wanted you to hear. Right as we were going to get on the elevator grandma yelled to have everyone come back into the room, we all new it was bad. I remember running back into the room, throwing myself on top on you at the end of the bed yelling "DADDY, PLEASE DON'T GO", but then you did. Hearing you take your last breath, was like getting my heart ripped out of my chest. I remember laying there at the end of your bed crying and crying and crying, hoping and praying you were going to come back. I needed you, mom needed you, connor, alexa, and tori needed you. We needed you to be there for us, to cook me steak and tell me who I could and couldn't date, you needed to coach tori and connor's softball and baseball teams, you needed to watch alexa perform just ONE more time, mom needed your help to keep me out of trouble. It's not fair. It's not fair that such an amazing guy like you had to go. It's not fair that alexa, tori, and I will never get to have you walk us down the isle or have our father daughter dance, it's not fair that you will not get to see what a good pitcher connor is or see what an amazing guy he has become. it's not fair that Kenra will never get to hear your laugh or have you give her one of those amazing hugs you gave. Dad I miss you so much and want you hear to tell me everything will be okay.

Hey Matt! Welcome!

Your next step is to post roll in the January quit group. Roll is our way of promising each other that we will not have nicotine for the day. We post roll every day here. Our system is pretty simple. Wake up, post roll, and keep your word for the day. Then, the next day, do it all over again. If you make that promise early - first thing every morning - and commit to making it every day, no matter what, then your chances of staying quit will go up exponentially.

It may sound stupid, weird, or ridiculous... but it works, and posting roll is the core of KTC. Get over to January, post roll, and get connected with other quitters.

Drink lots of water and read around on the site. There's tons of quit information all over this place. After you post roll, you're free to post anywhere on the site and there are tons of things here to motivate, educate or distract you while you go through the tough times ahead. The first couple of days can be particularly rough, but trust me - it does get easier as time goes by.

My name is Matt and I'm currently wrapping up day 4. I have dipped roughly 3-4 tins a week for 13 years. I have tried several times to quit before but had a tough time staying committed. But, I am about celebrate my daughter's 1st birthday in a couple weeks and need this quit to be my last.

I am doing my best to go cold turkey this time (used nicotine gum before, lasted 2 weeks). Today was hard but I'm doing everything I can to stay busy and giving the fake stuff a try.
