Well, day 7....
Doing good.
Woke up early, took a plane ride, was in a car for hours, and no dip.
I'm getting sick of eating candy though.
Just had that classic "something is missing" feeling. I've found that meditation helps a lot.
If I meditate in the morning, and I think about dipping throughout the day, I don't obsess on it, its just a passing thought.

Day 6.
Really tired today, had no energy, and a little grumpy.
Finally felt awake at around 5:00 pm
I have a horrible dry mouth with a film, I had this when I was dipping, I wonder how long before it's gone, I can't stand it. I brush my tongue and teeth like crazy and use mouthwash, also drinking water like mad, still....dry mouth.

Thanx indycolts!
I can definitely relate to what you are saying.
I quit for a year once and I remember how awake I felt and how rested I was. It was like I was a whole new person. I felt like how I thought other people felt (healthy people).
Well, it's day 5 and the dizziness is gone, I'm not physically craving nicotine but I am feeling from time to time like I'm forgetting something. I went out for a while and I was in my room checking my pockets......keys, wallet, phone.......what am I missing? Oh yeah! Shit! Hahaha!
But I don't feel like myself, I feel electric! It's weird but, like hypersensitive. Not in a bad way, just like I'm too awake or something.

And what Indy said, I find myself drifting off to sleep at around 11:30! And it comes on fast.
When I had nocotine in me I would stay up really late. Not only to get the last dip in but I just had insomnia, I could only sleep when I was dead tired. Nicotine is a stimulant. I guess that's why my heart was always racing, I thought it was just stress and anxiety.
I'm happy to be quit today and I will post roll tomorrow!

Thanx mich!
Ok, 4rth day.
Not to darn bad!
I actually left my house, went to the beach and got in the water (I would always put a lip in before going in the water)
I found myself forgetting that I was quit and I was reaching for the tin! Then I was like oh no!!!!
Hahaha! But, I feel really good, not to dizzy and my hands and feet are warmer than usual (I had poor circulation due to the nicotine) also, my heart rate is way down.

Oh, but I did experience restless legs syndrome this morning when I was waking up, and a bit when trying to sleep last night, so much that my legs were sore today.
By now you might notice that you're sleeping much, much better and therefore much clearer of mind and more productive. I'm 43-days in, and for the past few weeks every night of sleep has been the best night of sleep I've had in ten years! When I was chewing I was always staying up late, often times past midnight, just to get that last chew in, since we all know, there's always time for one more chew!

Now, even though there's times (especially on the weekends) that I'd like to stay up, I'm usually crashing early. That's really not so bad because, man, when I wake up, I feel like a million bucks!! Think about it... when I was chewing, after about two or three hours I'd be jonesin' for a chew. Even if I slept eight hours, my body spent five of them in a stressed state because it was craving nicotene. That's no way to live - waking up every morning groggy and in a fog because you never really slept.

Since tossing my last can my sleep is SO much better; my mind is clearer, etc. I have a stressful job, but I'm better able to deal with the stress. It does take a bit of work to get used to dealing with the stress without a chew, but keep active on this site and use stuff like fake chew or sunflower seeds. Just try and notice each day things that are better, even if it's something stupid like you woke up one morning and hearing some birds chirping made you smile (that actually happened to me a morning a couple of weeks ago!)

Well, third day now.
I've just been laying on the couch eating candy :D
I got up and took a shower and shaved, that wasn't too fun. I was all dizzy and in the fog.
So I figure I'll just stay on the couch and treat this like I have the flu.
Also, I'm really tired, I'm sleeping a lot more now instead of having insomnia.
I feel like a lazy bastard! Hahaha!
I too slept a lot the first few days, then I went without sleep for a few nights and now back to norm. I can relate to feeling like a lazy bum, if it's working for you- keep it up. if it's pissing you off, get up and take a walk or knock out a chore. whatever works for you - as long as you keep the nicotine out of your system who cares if you don't get anything done for a few days. Good job on day 3, keep it up.

Hey, thanx guys.
I don't think I'm that old, geeze
Well, here's a few more things about me, just the basics.
I am from massachusetts, I've lived all over the country, I live in Florida now.
I don't have a wife or kids. I'm trying to start a business right now so I've been stressed lately.
I don't drink or do drugs anymore, so I don't have any crutches, Which is why it's been hard to give this last one up.
I'm in the restaurant business, so everybody smokes there. I would actually have a lip in while waiting tables.
I'm not working right now so that's not a Problem.
I ride a motorcycle and play the guitar, but mainly all I really do is obsess on this busies I want to start. That's really my only stress factor in my life.

38's pretty damn old if you ask me. Now is the perfect time to quit if you are ready. If you don't want to quit more than anything you have ever wanted you probably won't be successful. Listen to the advice these guys have given you they are bad ass Quitters. In reality you aren't old, neither am I even though I've been dipping longer than you've been taking breath! I'll quit with you everyday! Pm me if I can help in any way.

Hey Welcome. You're right, you don't need to go nuts to quit, you just have to want it more than you want anything else, there's a post here that talks about fighting to quit like you're fighting for your life - guess what, you are! Use the site - make friends, trade phone numbers with a few people and don't be afraid to reach out. The key is to quit because YOU WANT TO QUIT and post roll each day and do it early. feel free to pm me if I can help with anything!

(P.S. - I am nearly as old as you and us old guys can kick quit ass too!)
