The post above was submitted as a HoF Speech. Given the level of participation at the time of submission (3 posts) it could not be accepted as a HoF Speech.

Instead of trashing it we merged it with his intro--in the off chance that kroussey wants to start posting up with us.

My quit date April 15th 2015 Income Tax Day I picked that day so I could remember it easy, well today July 25th I'm at 100 days an accomplishment I have done on my own 2 times before actually once for one year straight and the other for 3 years before. So how do I stay quit this time when I didn't before, because that is my main concern. You see I when through every thing before everyone has gone through and it was all much worse before but not this time, You see before I climbed the mountain alone. This time up the hill I took allies up with me, on one side was The Kill The Can Gang along with Jeffro, on the other side was God Almighty. Before I started my journey up the mountain I fount KTC signed up went in the chat room, found Jeffro who gave me his cell number if I had problems along the journey. Then I prayed, I put this issue in the hands of the lord, now God will never put something in your path that you cannot get through. So one specific thing I prayed for was that God help and take away the urges  cravings. Having done that together we headed up the hill. Now God must have granted my wish because I was breezing through until about day 80. Well I flew out of town for my Elks Convention in Indianapolis for 3 days, all was fine going to meeting in the morning and visiting the hospitality rooms in the evening, free drinks and appetizers meeting Elks from all over the US. A good ole boy was up from Texas came over and introduces himself to the group and start talking, then "it" happens! he reaches in his pocket and pulls out a can of crap and my old brand too Grizzly long cut winter green, he pops the lid takes a pinch an d puts it in his lip. He is so close that the aroma waffles out in the air right at me and the urge was there! So here I am in a hotel with no transportation and who knows where the closest crap store is? what do I do? Wait a minute God was testing me as to how far I would go the get some chew. So all the urges and cravings to chew up until now were gone until now, this was going to be a real challenge......but you know what I had figured the test out I went and got something to munch on and politely excused my self from that good ole boy and I made it, the craving went away it was gone. I had faced the nic bitch right in my face and beat her back, will she return, sure but now I know how to beat her. I will continue to battle i'm sure but I'm cruising along again. Thanks to KTC and Jeffro I may reach out again but for now I'm doing great and feeling much better........that person who said he's losing weight....what are you doing, i'm eating everything in site.

Hi kroussey. I'm a long time addict myself, 34 years. You've made a great decision and I'm glad that you're here. There are a few things about KTC that you should know, now that you're here. We don't try to quit; we don't hope we can quit; we don't do luck. We quit. Period. We also don't use BS crutches that just service to keep us reliant on the poison. No gums, lozenges, chew 'lite', or any of that crap.

With that stuff out of the way, let's focus on what we do, and what does work. First and foremost, while you are quitting for you, we take this journey together. Get in there with your quit group (July 2015) and mix it up. These are the closest brothers and sisters that you will carry and who will carry you. To start, learn how to post roll, and then post it every day. Every. Damned. Day. First thing in the morning is best, so that you start the day affirming to yourself and to your quit group that you will not use nicotine in any form that day. This daily act, this promise to all of us, is a strong anchor that you can hold onto during the tough days ahead. Read everything that you can on this site - other intros, stories, words of wisdom, and so on. Forewarned is fore armed. Get phone numbers of several people in your quit group and outside of it. When you're really having a tough time, or just for support in general, it's crucial to have a few close brothers and sisters in quit to rely on for support. Hit me up with a PM if you'd like my number.

Make sure to load up with whatever is going to help you with the oral fixation of dipping - gum, life savers, seeds, fake dip, whatever it takes. Drink lots of water; LOTS OF WATER. If you're not peeing every time you pass a restroom, then drink more water. It helps to flush this crap out of your body. Exercise will also help.

Welcome to KTC. I quit with you today.

I'm not quite as old as you farts (but I'm close) Welcome Kroussey! I had so many failed attempts in my 26 years of chewing. I wasn't able to finally quit till I found this place and met all these other quitters who had done what I was trying to do. This place works if you use it.

Welcome, I'm always glad to see older quitters. I'm one of the older farts myself. Age seems to be one of the factors that increases the odds of success but the most important factor for success is posting roll everyday.
