CDub,

I'm proud to quit with you. As these guys have said, please read everything you can on the site during you your first week (and then read some more). You will be amazed at the new reasons you uncover for quitting. You will get a feel for how seriously we take our quit, how accountability works, and what it means to be a brother who can both hold someone's hand, smack someone upside the head, or both at the same time. Whatever it takes to stay quit.

You ended your post by saying:
Quote
. . .but I will need help.
. . .and you will get it. But you have to take a step forward. No one can quit for you, we can only help make your decision to quit much easier, and more likely to succeed. These guys have given you a great butt-load of hope in the earlier post, you just need to accept it.

Post roll,
keep your word
repeat.

I'll look for you in the July group TODAY!

(edit: Nice job posting with July, and kicking your former master (the nic-bitch) to the curb. You have given us your word to quit today . . . keep it, repeat tomorrow!)
*Quit today. Full stop. No qualifiers. Tomorrow?... IDK, IDC.

Chris, you have so many reasons to quit. However, you must quit for you and you only. You must understand that your life is important, valuable and you have responsibility to those who feel the same way about you.

Once you quit for you, here is some motivation. Logan and Hunter are the age where tobacco companies recruit. What would you say to them if you caught them sneaking a dip out of your can???

"Don't be like me kids." Why not, dad? "We want to be just like you." When your 19 you can decide if you want to chew. Dad when did you start to chew? How come I have to wait until I'm 19? You didn't.

For every quitter or death related to tobacco, (4k per day) Tobacco companies are recruiting (5k per day) new users. For chewing tobacco, they target 6 - 9th grade males. You are one of their best ads! When young boys look up to their dad, they want to be like them. You are sponsoring the poison and aren't even getting a royalty?????

That is messed up. Quit for you and you only. Do it now but then you'll sleep better when you tell your kids not to dip. You will get your integrity back.

You probably have excuses not to quit now. Every excuse also has a reason to quit now! Never look back, flush the shit and be done. No excuse will ever trump the reasons to quit.

I am quit 21 days. I am no expert, but I look at my two sons and know that I am a good dad for quitting and telling them to avoid the lies of tobacco.
Thanks for posting that, MThomas. I had never actually thought about it that way.

"You are one of their best ads." That's powerful stuff right there.

More motivation than ever to stay quit.

It's simple but it ain't always easy.

Post roll every day.

Don't put that crap in your mouth.

Repeat tomorrow.

Simple...not easy.

But we know something that you don't...

Wanna know what it is???

You

Can

Do

This.

You can.

We know because we've done it too.

And we use to be like you and thought we couldn't.

BTW, your balls will also get much, much bigger.

You can do this.

I'm quit with you.

My name is Chris Walcott. I'm 38 years old and have dipped since 1994. I have tried to quit several times, only to start dipping again. I've always been scared of getting throat or mouth cancer. It scares the hell out of me. It's amazing how you will still do something even though it scares you. I'm not exactly sure how this will go but am hoping for the best. I need to quit. My gums are receding badly. I will definitely need a gum graph soon.

I'm married to a beautiful wife (Ashley) and have four children: Josh (9), Logan (11), Kinsey (12), and Hunter (14). My kids call my dip

Chris-
What are you waiting for? You know it is stupid, you are afraid of its affects. Quit right now! Follow Jon's advice, dump it right now and start your tobacco-free life. It won't always be easy, but it will be rewarding. This site will help you, as will all the members. But you must own your quit.

You have two choices. You can either continue to be a slave to that shit, or you can dump it out right now and start posting roll and promising your July 2012 quit group everyday, one day at a time that you won't use tobacco for that day.

There is no "getting ready for it." Go get rid of every can, spit bottle or remnant of tobacco right now. If you say "you need one more" or "are gonna finish that last can," you're succombing to the very problem you're trying to eliminate. I'm serious. Get rid of tobacco and go post your day 1 (read below).

Congratulations on your decision. It's one you will never regret. But don't be fooled - quitting is not for pussies. It takes balls, determination and a relentless disdain for the nic bitch who's been nagging at you all this time. But if you use the tools you have at your disposal, you can be successful.

Here's everything you need to know about this site:

We quit one day at a time by making a promise each morning that we will not use tobacco IN ANY FORM (dip, cigarettes, cigars, snus or patches/gum) for the day. We stay quit for the day, go to bed and wake up and do the same thing. You make your promise by "posting roll."

The Welcome Center tells you all the basics of how things work around here. WhoDey also has taken the time to develop very informative, step-by-step Instructions for Posting Roll to help guide you through posting your promise for the first few days.

Some asides:

1) We don't "try" to quit, or tell others "good luck" in their quits. Again, it's about determination and balls.

2) We don't take kindly to folks who just drop in every couple of days and post. Posting every day is the whole point of why we are here. It's about accountability.

3) Reach out to your brothers via private message and exchange phone numbers. First, this allows you a contact to post roll for you if you can't get to a computer. But more importantly, it allows you a brother to reach out to whenever you get a bad craving or need someone to talk to.

4) Lastly, it is wise to develop a quit plan so you'll know exactly how to handle situations that may arise during your quit.
