Hello

So I am 17 days into my quit. Some days I dont think about it at all, somedays it still controls my thoughts. I think i have been in a rut since i quit. i am very standoffish, i dont want company and the smallest things seems to be making me go crazy. i need to know there is a light at the end.

thanks for listening.

off topic here but i am having trouble posting roll call
Very normal. Your brain is pissed at you for starving it of nicotine.

I promise the light at the end of the tunnel is not a train.
Shawn 17 day's in and it get's better.. Your body  mind are adjusting. I was alway's easy to snap. The smallest things would send me through the roof. I couldn't figure out why I was alway's in a bad mood. Some of my family would call me grouch. It was the nicotine the whole time. When my nic levels would get low I would get really mean. Once I quit it got worse. Not everyday, but when it came holy crap. I've dropped the f bomb more times in the last couple months than my whole life!
Good news is I'm not like that anymore. I have actually mellowed. My family has commented on how calm I am now. Things will happen (stub toe, break something, etc..) Before It would bother me, now for some reason it doesn't. I find myself thinking sometimes. Wow before that would've pissed me off, not anymore.
The only reason I got better is because I posted everyday, and took it one day at a time. Just get through the day at all costs. When you get really agitated exercise will help. It's a great release. Be sure you have digits too. The only day I felt I would cave I called,  texted my quit brothers. Reaching out saved my ass. Keep your word to your brothers, stay the course, and the sun will come out for you as well. PM me if you need digits, I"ll quit with you..
First off Shawn you have got to learn to post roll after 17 days of trolling around the site you have no excuse for not posting roll! Click on this link How to post roll follow the instructions going to Your January quit group. Don't worry about screwing up the roll, practice, if you do it wrong once or twice someone will fix it. Reach out for #'s, get active!
Now as to what you are experiencing its nothing different than the thousands of us! You will fail and cave if you don't have a promise and plan, nicotine addiction is to strong for the majority of us to face alone!
you just hit the two week weakness, totally normal, Give it a bit you'll be right as rain.
"CLOSE THE DOOR. In my opinion, it?s the single most important step in your final quit. There is one moment, THE moment, when you finally let go and surrender to the quit. After that moment, no temptation will be great enough, no lie persuasive enough to make you commit suicide by using tobacco."

Welcome!
The salmon colored tab up top will answer all your questions. There's good news and not so good news. The good news is, the worse part of your battle was yesterday and you've made the best decision of your life. The bad news is nothing... there is no bad news when you're quit. You will be healthier, wealthier and wiser as a result. Just post roll, honor the promise that day and repeat early the next day.
Nothing is free Shawn, not even your freedom from nicotine. The cost is 2 minutes a day minimum, everyday and a promise. Anti up, we're all in.

Shawn wish I had found those balls when I was your age. The addiction only gets worse with time, the grip gets tighter and you become a bigger pussy to your addiction. I drug that "can and chain" for nearly 40 years. Today like the past 219 days I unhook the shackles of the can and promise my "Brothers of Quit" that I will not open that can today! My promise is early each day because I don't want to leave the door open for the bitch to influence me. As for the future I can't get bogged down thinking about it. I'm living today not yesterday or tomorrow. We can control today. I had days where I had to back off and take my quit 1 hour at a time. If that's what it takes do it, call or text one of your contacts, get on chat and talk through your pain!

feeling brand new
« on: November 05, 2012, 02:58:00 AM »
Hello,

My name is Shawn. I am 12 days into my new life being chew free.

I'll start from the beginning. I was 16 when i had my first chew, and now at 26 im finally quitting. Looking back I feel as if it took 10 years away from me.. when i began to chew it was like nothing, one every couple of days or so if all the boys were chewing.. about a yr in is when i got hooked. last thing i did before i went to bed and first thing i did when i woke up. i lost my motivation, i was staying up late to chew, it controlled my actions and thoughts.. I wanted to quit for so long but did not have the balls to give it up. I feel somewhat blessed now that I am quitting, it makes me feel as if i can do anything. Its hard to explain to people who never have chewed.. I can remember not eating healthy because it was a better chew if i ate junk like soda and chocoloate, burgers.. fuck it controlled me...

anyway not anymore, i am making a promise to take it one day at a time to never have another chew again, it is the devil..
