Day 2 is a little tougher but still making it. It's more breaking the habit of doing it at a certain time right now. The urge is there too but it's more of a "after my morning coffee" or "while you use the bathroom" hurdles I had to overcome in the mornings. Got through the morning routine without it. I also have an hour drive to and from work that is pretty tough. Have a big bottle of water with me to help. So far, so good.
The big picture can be gnarly, man. Make an effort to break it down to smaller increments to keep your motivation. Celebrate every little win over those urges you've been giving into for years... after coffee, before bed, after food, in the car. You name it. Day 2 was a reality check for me... shit got real. And... that's ok. Tackle it head on. Own it. I'm at 1,008 days quit today and every bit of it is made up of thousands of small victories over my addiction. They add up and they equal a new you. A free, you.
Well, it’s one louder, isn’t it? It’s not ten.

I have wanted to quit for a long time and never had the motivation. I travel all over the country with my job and dip has always helped me to relax when I get to new places. I got off a Skype call with my wife and we talked about some things including health. I searched online for ways to quit and came across this website and starting reading and knew this was the right time and right place for me to throw the can away. I have been dipping for 32 years and I know it will be difficult, but I am ready.

Go get yourself some mints, gum and fake stuff if you have it around. I called a few walmarts and finally found Smokey mountain.

Cstill...
Congrats on best decision you've made ever...if not in a LONG time.

I smoked for two decades, dipped for one decade, then been smoking AND dipping for the past year. If I put ONE more dip in, or smoke ONE more cig, I am going to get cancer. Fuck that. I tagged out.

I had stopped for the better part of a year before. Here on KTC for that matter. Then I caved. I caved because I had a lot of personal issues going on in my life. I caved because I said FUCK IT. As you may have seen in April.
I share that story so that maybe others will learn what I have learned.

Get some numbers. I PM'd you for starters. But it makes a big difference if you reach out to some people in April. Stretch that hand out. Then for GOD's SAKE...USE IT!!

Today, I quit with you!

Cstill,
Congrats on posting roll call and beginning your quit.

I am 60, starting smoking and snuff during the 6th grade, quit on and off several times, and finally made it to this site. I am on quit day 126. In time it will get easier. You will have a bit of a fog to fight through.

With this site I was able to finally quit once and for all. The main thing to do is drink plenty of water and o.j., exercise especially when the urge is very great. Distract your mind to think about anything but the quit.

I quit with you today.

Have tried to quit in the past and failed every...single...time. I know all the stats and dangers. Love my two young girls and want to be around to watch them grow up. Hoping this site will help me succeed this time. Just have to get the nicotine out of my system. 46 years old and would like the journey to last quite a while longer.
