Good thing about playing ball is eating seeds! it's a great alternative for a while, that and gum. Drink lot's of water too.
Have fun with your quit, it'll be hard at first, but with the help of your quit group, it gets easier.

Thanks for the replies. I don't want to be addicted to chewing tobacco anymore. I think at any age if you have the will then it can be done. I'm going to take it one day at a time, post roll everyday, and live my life free of this substance. Thanks again for the support, this site will be my lifeline.

Good stuff.

If you find yourself on the field and craving there are a slew of alteratives (fake dip) out there. For some they're too close to the real thing. For me... they were a lifeline.

Welcome and congrats on a tremendous decision.

What would you do for $30,000 Lefty? I am 45 and I'd be debt free outside of my house payments. But I am a nicotine addict, and spend $30,000 on death instead. I used for 17 years, almost your lifetime. Don't be me at 45, be quit for 27 years by then.
Some of my fondest and clearest memories are peeing in places that aren't bathrooms.

Alright biglefty....I'm going to be brutally honest with you. I've seen a ton of young, college ball players come through these doors over the past 6 years. The vast majority of them don't make it. I'm going to challenge you to tell me why you are going to be different from all the others.

Otherwise, I'm glad you made it. Let's get this done now.
I agree. I saw an 18 year old and about went to the next intro...why or how are you going to be different than those that come here to quit, cave and bail?

I hope you are serious but what is your MO to quit here? What do you need? I never could quit til I found this site. It works but only if you work it. So what do you need and what is your plan?

I see you already made you way to the Apes of Wrath and on to roll. Keep hydrated and embrace the suck. The next few weeks are going to be foggy. It will get better but its going to suck a whole lot first. Every time you put down one of those awful craves just remember how you are never going to ever have to quit dip again. Get it done the first time around, one day at a time. I quit with you and welcome.

If you are arguing a position you don't necessarily agree with but are playing devil's advocate, please spell that out for me. I'm not very bright and like to understand when people are sincere or not.

I quit.
« on: January 05, 2015, 12:29:00 AM »
I finally quit. I'm 18 years old and have been dipping 1.5 cans a day for about a year now. I play ball and am playing in college next year. I know I'll be around it quite a bit in the future but I'm done. I quit. Some of ya'll have already been extremely helpful in the live chat and I'm glad I came across this site. Less than 24 hours and it's rough but it's time. Thanks ya'll
