Law- congrats on one of ( if not) the smartest decisions you ever made. I just passed one month clean after 28 years. God knows I wish I stopped 25 years ago! Read up, post roll and listen to the fellas here.
First few days suck but it gets better.

Hello everyone. I've decided to make the great decision to quit the can. I've been dipping for over three years and its time for me to stop.
I used to smoke in college and quit cold turkey just prior to starting Basic Law Enforcement Training in North Carolina. I started dipping Just prior to finishing training and it was a seldom thing. Three years later, I'm no longer dipping just in the patrol car or when I'm just working. It has leaked into my life and feel the urge when I'm at home and especially when I'm driving.
I'll be getting married in February and my dipping has never really come up in conversation. My fiancee does not like it, but she does not realize how much it has permeated my life. I need to stop for health purposes, money, and out of respect for her.
I'm at a can +/- per day depending on how stressful the day is.

That's pretty much my history in dip. I made the commitment to stop with my last pouch on Friday 10/12/2012. It's freaking tough. Many friends on the department also dip and I've given them the heads up/ warning to not even mention the "D" word around me.

I really want to stop. This is SO much harder than kicking smoking. It was my reward for a job well done as well as my relief for stressful and tense situations. I would love any tips or tricks from the seasoned community to help me out. I'd also like a heads up on if it gets easier. I know it will, but I'd really like a goal to shoot for instead of just waiting for things to get better.

Thank you all in advance for your support and advice. I look forward to the conversation and hopefully one day being able to contribute to someone else in my situation!
