Hang in there Steve, ride out the tough time minute by minute if necessary. You are well on the way. Read, read, read here on the site- intros and the learning center. It really helps to see how no matter what you go through, someone else (usually a lot of us) have done/gone through too. Drink lots of water, get some exercise, even if it's just good walks. And breathe a lot. While the nicotine is out, there are a lot of other toxins that will continue to work their way out. The hardest part physiologically is over, congrats! There will continue to be challenges but the more you put into your quit by reading and sharing here, and building a network, the better equipped for the long haul you become. Amazing work so far!
This info helped me early on, and still does today: https://whyquit.com/whyquit/linksaaddiction.html

Quitters I’ve met so far: Ihatecope, >Pinched<, T-Cell, grizzlyhasclaws, Canvasback, BaseballPlayer, Cbird65, ERDVM, BradleyGuy, Ted, Zeno, AppleJack, Bronc, Knockout, MookieBlaylock, Rdad, 2mch2lv4, MN_Ben, Natro, Lippizaner, Amquash, ChristopherJ, GDubya, SRohde  -- always eager to meet more!

Steve welcome to KTC. I have been quit 31 days now so not that far ahead of you. I have been through what you are going through and it does get better. I have been through the anger. I really let my boss have it one day. That will pass. I have been using the fake dip since I quit and it helps a lot. Use anything but nic. I quit with you today.

Steve, welcome to KTC!

We spend a lot of time talking about the first 72 hours on cessation boards. That is the time it takes for nicotine to finally leave your body. Psychologically, it is a great thing to know that this poison is out of our bodies. Problem is on days 4 and 5 or so the brain wakes up and says WAIT! WHAT THE FOCK! It is called "the Suck" for a reason. Just push through this day hour by hour if that is what it takes because there are MUCH brighter days ahead. The only way to get there, though is to never allow nicotine IN ANY FORM get into your body again. That is the only way to set yourself free from this demon.

Get into your quit group if you haven't already (I believe you are in January 2016) and post roll. Get up tomorrow and do it again. Get to know your brothers, get to know the vets here. Read absolutely everything you can get your hands on about this addiction. This website has good info. Also try whyquit.com - which has a LOT of good information and videos on nicotine addiction. Read Allen Carr's book if you can. Come to understand your enemy.

As for fake stuff - try it. Use it if it helps. It isn't bad for you - and folks generally stop using it over time - when they no longer need the brain-trick or the oral sensation. Use sunflower seeds, use hard candy, take deep breaths, get active, go take a run (exercise boosts dopamine levels!), keep your blood sugar even by drinking juice, go to Live Chat, play games on WILDCARD, post in January, post in this intro. ANYTHING BUT SHOVE TOBACCO LEAVES IN YOUR FACE! 'na na'

I promise this, it gets easier. Much, much easier. Just stick to it. We are all here for you if you need to rage or vent or distract yourself!

You can do this, Steve. PM me if you need anything.

Not much to add. Flippout laid it all out perfectly for you. Do that and you cant fail. Welcome to KTC!

Just one and you will be back to where you started, and where you started was desperately wishing you were where you are now.

My name is Steve and this is my first time ever on any forum discussion. I'm on day 4, and I believe this day is the worst so far. I have been chewing for 10 years. About a half a can a day. I'm very health conscious but for some reason never quit chewing untill now. Reading your post makes me feel alot better and gives me hope. Today I feel alot of irritation / anger about almost anything and everything. I can go sometimes hours without the craving, but when it hits, it hits hard. Wondered if anyone would recommend the fake stuff or just keep doing what I'm doing. Thanks everyone
