Fear, anger, embarrassment....... draw strength from those emotions. Do whatever it takes. That means somethind different for every person here. Contact some folks and ask questions. Read some HOF speeches. I guarantee that you'll see a few mirrors of your life. We're beating nicotine on daily basis. We are addicts. Will we ever be cured? No, but we will be clean............ for today.

Dear bwtipps,

good to see a fucking scared dipper here! FEAR is good. Fear keeps the animals out of the sights of hunters. FEAR keeps us safe. KEEP your new found FEAR. It is a good start in your EDUCATION of your ADDICTION.
Stay and read everything for the next 3 weeks on this site. Get into chat. Learn about your addiction and how to stay QUIT.
Scowick, Parry and WT are perfect strangers who gave you perfect advice for free. Isn't that just weird:???? perfect strangers who care about YOUR quit????
Read everything here and see that your beginning is similar to a lot of others.
See that you can be QUIT. See that you're not a "Special" butterfly and that we're all ADDICTS of nicotine forever. Which is why we post roll early in the a.m. each day. We quit today and we don't worry about tomorrow because it isn't real, we don't do the past because it is gone, we focus on the present because it is a gift. We quit TODAY one day at a time.
This past summer would have been 30 years of 1-2 cans a day, 24/7 of putting the POISON in my mouth. At day 140 I am still the addict, but with the tools to be QUIT today. If I can do it, then YOU can TOO be QUIT!!!! The TOOLS are here for you to use. But you gotta get off the couch and change the channel because LIFE does not have a remote.
Cheers! 'bang head'

Bw, the fear of cancer can help motivate but that can easily be reversed as the pain of detox and withdrawal control your addicted mind! What am I saying? Post roll and keep your word!! This will suck so bad, prepare yourself and remember the pain!!

Noon today marked 24 hours of no Copenhagen. After 11 years I am giving it my all to kick this habit. I recently got word that a good family friend was diagnosed with lymphoma (not sure on spelling). This scared me and was probably just what I needed. Hoping this site keeps with honest with myself and my family....here goes nothing.
Welcome bwtipps,

You are making an excellent decision. It will not be easy, and there are many hurdles ahead of you, but if all of us here can give our word and promise to stay quit ONE day at a time, so can you.

You quit for one day. Rinse and repeat. Start posting roll in the January 2013 group. That is the most important thing you can do EVERYDAY. If you do that and are a man of your word, you will be very successful.

Glad to be quit with you.
