When you promise every day and early, stating that you won't use for the next 24 hours, its that easy!!! Don't look at it as quitting long term cause that will make it seem impossible. Promise for the next 24 hours, wake up and do it again!! This site was made for the fact that we all walk in each other's shoes but we do it in our own way. So remember, that we know what you are going through, so we are here to support you!! Use us, abuse us, whatever you need to do!!! We quit with you every day, as you quit with us, share your digits and make sure that you talk through what you are feeling! Keeping it bottled up will only make it worse, I promise you that!! My number is only pm away..

It is very simple! We quit for today! We wake up! Do it again tomorrow!! One day at a time!

I used tea tree flavored toothpicks from a healthfood store for a couple of months - wow, fresh breath instead of sewage breath, another win. I quit with you today.
Some of my fondest and clearest memories are peeing in places that aren't bathrooms.

Hi there i quit with you im not to far ahead you on days off nic. Smoky mountain has some mint stuff i have used. Really helps me out when i have craves but it does jeep the habit goin.

There are a number of decent fake options (Smokey Mountain, Bacc-Off, Jakes, Etc.) Gum, seeds, McDonald's, will all work. I and others have resorted to used coffee grounds at one point or another! Really, anything can work. Strong craves usually only last a few minutes, so anything that can distract you for 10-15 minutes is usually a winner.

Frankly, after 5 minutes of sitting there with used coffee grounds in your mouth, you'll feel like such a jackass that you'll forget all about the crave.

Some of August '16 has been hanging around August '17 because the new groups are more lively and there's a certain nostalgia/ connection to the new August. Groups are never closed off. When you post roll, you're welcome to post anywhere on the site. I'll be posting support, offering advice and generally dicking around in August '17 because I want to help your group continue to be successful and because I get something out of it too.

I'd encourage you to post support in August '16 or some other older group. Support is always appreciated and it will help you dig in and build connections that will help you down the road.

I kind of like where AJ was going with getting into this mind set that we're dealing with addiction here. Even though you only used for 4 years or "4 times a day" you're just as much an addict as the person who dipped 2 cans a day for 30 years. Being quit is a way of life, no different than the health/fitness way of life you are following. And this way of life needs to be forever. No holes in your foundation, no weaknesses. And..that's where we come in; kudos to you for making this choice and coming here to do it.

  • Interests: Hiking, mountain biking, camping, golf, Tennis, rollerblading....staying active and young despite my age! I am an avid reader and have currently switched to audio books so that I can get things done, I love gardening and playing APA pool. I am a medical professional which is really awful considering I have dipped for 4 years but I am also strongwilled and I plan to live a health active life for whats left of it.

Thanks for all the encouragement, Being an avid reader I have already begun devouring the information available on this site, heading out to the gym and to get some gum! Read about cotton balls but I have an aversion to cotton balls and cannot imagine putting one in my mouth?! Anyone else have any ideas on tools for oral fixation? Be nice and get any dirty thoughts out of your head if you respond 'facepalm'' . Oh and I started Roll yesterday, got a little confused to see peeps from August 2016 on there but decided I didn't know all the ins and outs of this group and just ignored it.

It's an addiction, and you're an addict.

I don't say that to throw blame or anything because, hell, we ALL are. That's why we're all on some internet forum working towards the same goal... freedom.

Littledip - first, congratulations on wanting to quit, and for having the guts to reach out. That's not an easy thing.

I don't know how much you've read about KTC, so just in case, here's a link to something that explains how things work here: Here's How You Quit... Ball Is In Your Court Now

Your next step is to get yourself on roll. Posting roll means giving a bunch of us anonymous yahoos on the internet your promise that you won't use nicotine today. It's what we do here, and we do it because it works. You make that promise... then keep it. Then you wake up the next day, and make that promise again. Because quitting forever is hard and scary, but quitting for a day? Heck, if I can do that, anyone can!

Here's a video about Posting Roll on KTC. If you post roll - and I really, really urge you to do so - you'll do it in the August group.

The first three days are going to be really rough. Drink lots of water. If you're walking by a bathroom and not feeling the need to duck in, drink more :) That, and exercise (if you can), will help flush the nicotine out of your system. So my dipping habit began when I reconnected and became re-involved with my now Husband who introduced me to Kodiac. I tried it and then continued using it for 4 years, never more than 4 times a day and sometimes only once but the craving is almost always there to have that little pouch between my lip and gums.
