Aneokly,

Welcome, you've definitely made a wise choice to join. You're absolutely correct

"there is ABSOLUTELY nothing good about chew-not one thing. What a waste! I might as well go lick an exhaust pipe, that would do me just as much good as taking a dip."
Amen to that statement!

Congratulations...I think you're on day 12 now...that's great.
Come and post roll with us in our June group: June Quit Group

Keep up the quit!

Welcome Aneokly

Please come post roll with us in the June quit group. The daily roll call is where we commit to everyone here that we will stay quit for the day. It's very effective. We all know that chew is bad shit but some of those craves are hard to overcome during the emotional roller coaster you ride at the beginning (at least for me). At this point I'll use any means except nicotine or other drugs to help me get through

Great choice to quit Aneokly! I live in Colorado and know plenty of women that chew. Good job on getting to day 10. Today is day 22 for me.

You should join the June Quit Group and let them encourage you to stay quit.

Hello-Introduction
« on: March 13, 2009, 12:00:00 PM »
Hi, I just found this site and thought I would share my story. I can really relate to a lot of the posts on this site and also to a lot of the stories from fellow members.
I don't know if there are any other girls in this community-but I do know quite a few girls who chew or used to chew and I was one of them.

I will start from the beginning: I started chewing when I was about 15 years old. I was living/working with my Aunt/Uncle for the summer. I was basically a "hired hand". I swathed/baled hay, broke horses, fenced and helped with the other ranch work. My uncle threw me a can of Copenhagen one morning and I took a big ol' dip. Made me sick of course but it sure gave me a rush! So after I got through that can I started buying my own whenever I could get to town. I stayed with Copenehagen for awhile but then I started getting hooked on Skoal. So many different flavors to try! I quit a few times but kept going back to it.
I had a few friends (girls) who chewed also and we would hang out together-we thought we were pretty tough!

I quit (for good I thought) when I got married but I kept sneaking and eventually I started chewing every day again. Then after my divorce I got up to about a can a day and kept that up for about 5 years. If I didn't have a chew in I was eating or sleeping. Then it was right back in my mouth after I ate and first thing in the morning. I couldn't function without a chew in my mouth. I switched to Bandits for awhile thinking I could "cut down", but that actually made it easier for me to hide it at work. So I went back to my regular Skoal and it was a can a day-AGAIN.
So last Wednesday I threw a brand new can away, and I quit - cold turkey. I don't know what happened exactly, I think I just got sick of it.
I was tired of having spit cups on my desk, in my truck, at home, everywhere! Tired of hiding it at work, tired of having to ask for a spit cup whenever I went out somewhere. I always had to pick it out of my teeth and was really sick of having BAD BREATH.
Then I sat down and figured out how much money I wasted on that crap and that alone was enough to make me never want to chew again.

It has been over 10 days and now whenever I THINK I want to have a chew all I have to think about is that there is ABSOLUTELY nothing good about chew-not one thing. What a waste! I might as well go lick an exhaust pipe, that would do me just as much good as taking a dip. It isn't easy to quit but I am very glad that I did, I wish I never would have started in the first place but I guess we can't change the past.
Thanks for letting me share my story.
Never going back to that crap-I have been a slave to it for too long!
