Here's another thing that irritates me. When you get a guy or gal that has quit and then caved and claims this as some kind of source of wisdom. I figure that nobody is perfect, and yes, guys do fuck up. But I do not see the value of caving, it makes no sense to me. I didn't join up until I wanted to quit. Then I quit. For all the lurkers and dilletantes out there, I just don't know why they put themselves through it. I'm sure you can remember the first week right? I know I can, and there is no way in hell that I'm going to relive that, no fucking chance. Yet you see these guys posting Day 1 over and over again, who would want to do that? I just can't wrap my head around it. If I were to get in a fight, get the shit kicked out of me but still win, would I want to do that every few days? Not this kid.

I watch these documentaries on special forces selection from time to time. The one thing that all the successful candidates possess is what you said: Caving is not an option. You succeed, failure is unacceptable. I'm not comparing giving up using mouse turds to special forces selection, but the mindset is the same. Know what I mean?
I know what you mean Pelican. Having been through some of the training you're talking about, yes, the mindset is failure is not an option.

This quit of mine started with that mindset. There are many, many guys that don't have that yet. You'll see them here. We have a few serial cavers that are still 'trying' to quit, instead of just quitting.

Anyway, welcome aboard. Have you found MikeA's dumb ass yet? Also, Rob123 is from the lite site as well.

Happy quittin.

Is there anyway to change my display name? Not a big deal, but I used the name of the company I was working for and they laid me off last Friday, so I would prefer to change it, but no biggy.

When I first quit, say, the first few weeks I had an "oh well people make mistakes sometimes" attitude. That is, until the longer I got in my quit the more angry that I got when I was suffering and some twit was caving and posting Day 1 over and over again. I mean, I told one guy, "Why even throw out your can?" Mikey would do the same and then we got the, "I'm not getting support here, I'm going to quit on my own without you blue meanies!"

And not to keep bitching, but the one I hate, I fucking hate, is the guy who caved, comes back (different name usually) and acts like he owns the fucking place. The expert caver.

Gah!
I like the way you think.

Addiction is relentless, heartless, unforgiving, and uninterested in intellectual conversation. It offers no quarter. It's trying to kill you, and it preys on warm fuzzy feelings and forgiveness.

It is utterly merciless. Only those who respond in kind can defeat it. Compassion is for skinned knees and lost jobs, not strung out nicotine junkies whose addicted minds are screaming at them to give up.

In short, if caving is even an option, you're not doing it right and you will fail. That is unacceptable.

My buddy MikeA is on here somewhere too. People criticized him for giving no quarter to cavers, so he finally go fed up and came over here where caving is simply not acceptable.

Hello people.

I've been quit for over a year now, am on the other site but I thought I'd come and see how everyone's doing in here. I quit with a bunch of badass dudes but lately QSSN has become a haven for cavers. Not cool, and we lost one of the best quitters on there as a result. The way I see it, if you're not serious about quitting then why the fuck would you bother wasting everyone's time?

Maybe it's just me, but I don't think so.

Cheers,

Pelican aka Noodlz

I was recommended to this site by one of the members in QSSN who is a member here. I'm 93 days in and I choose not to dip. Probably no sense in going to a quit group and posting day 93 like some asshole, so I guess i don't know what to do. I'm posting in here and I hope that's cool. Look forward to hearing from you guys.
Are you 93 days in without ANY form of nicotine (no gum, patches or other such)? If so, you are a quit s.o.b. and I'm glad to know you.

Lot's of people here know that 93 is just a beginning and that many quit hero's cave after that point if they don't have the right tools in place. One of those tools is daily accountability, obtained by posting roll in a quit group like the rest of the assholes here. Another tool to help maintain a forever quit is to focus not on your quit but on helping others get to where you are. You do that by daily posting support in the newer quit groups. The best way to learn something is to teach it to someone else. The same holds true for being a quitter.

My suggestion is to go into the April 2010 quit group, introduce yourself, explain your situation and what you are hoping to gain by joining late (long term accountability), and I'm sure you will be welcome into a good group of quitters. Also start working with the July quit group to help them stay the course. Doing thus will lead you to quit nirvana.
