Day 53 I am feeling good about the quit...I know I must quit everyday, but I have finally got the groucheness gone.  I still use Smokey Mtn chew, but not that often maybe 3-4 times a day.  That is wonderful compared to when I was dipping Skoal Longcut Straight I had the shit in there all day everyday.  I went to the oral surgeon again a couple weeks ago and he said he did not want to see me back and I had done a great service to myself and family for quiting.  So no lip cancer!  I know I still have cravings but no where near what I had the first couple of weeks.  Thanks everyone one this site for keeping me in check. I still have to quit daily!
Sweet news brother !

Glad to hear it's going great.

Day 25. Everything does get better. I have learned to use fake dip when I have triggers, such mowing the yard and at my kids baseball games. Sunflower seeds help also, although my jaw feels and taste like a country ham after sunflower seeds from all the salt. Overall feeling ten times better than I did 20 days ago. I realize I still have a long way to go. I still quit daily.

Day 15...Still going strong, had several triggers over the weekend, but stayed strong with the help of seed and final got some smokey mt chew and hooch. Not bad stuff. Between mowing the yard and kids baseball games this weekend I really missed dipping. The fake stuff help a lot.
Also my wife has notice the grumpiness, she is not a big supporter of the quit, but thank god I am not doing it for her. I am doing this for me and I will stay quit.
Nice work this weekend, bro! Sorry to hear your spouse isn't much support. That makes it tough. Thats the whole reason my little brother hasn't quit. Last time he tried, he was going thru the assh*le stage during the first week, and his wife got so sick of him that she drove to the store and bought him a can! Unreal.

Stay strong, bro! If you really try to go easy on your wife, I imagine she might come around.

I quit with you today.

Yesterday triggers were everywhere. Spring is here that means mowing and just being outside. I finally found so smoky mt chew. I not sure that I was/am addicted to nicotine. As much as the oral fixation. I got the smoky mt chew. And I felt normal again. I just don't want to get addicted to it. So this morning while drinking coffee I had normal first of the day trigger and I did not get anything smoky mt chew, seeds, or gum. Just trying to get to normal state without anything in my mouth. Thanks guys for all encouragement and advice. Keep it coming.
I dropped the fake after the 6th or 7th week and it wasn't that hard. Once your brain figures out your not getting anything from the fake it will be easy to quit it. It was a lot easier than I thought it would be. Do whatever it takes to keep the reel stuff out. Nicotine is what you are addicted to. You have a habit of putting something in your lip. My opinion,, don't worry about the fake stuff right now, worry about that stuff that was killing you. Worry about the habit when the time is right. Trust me, the nic bitch is not done yet my friend. Keep quiten and i'll keep quiten with you.

The poison sucks. I hate it. I hated it this morning, I hated it at noon, I hated it at supper and I hate it tonight. I enjoy hating it so much I'm going to wake up tomorrow and start over hating it. I quit with anyone that wants to hate it with me.

I have almost made it through my first 4 nightshifts without dipping...thank God for  sunflowers seeds.  I do have some hooch coming in the mail. Sunflower seeds have made my mouth completely raw.  12 days into this and everyday seems to get better.
AKSN,, if you didn't know, most wall-marts sale smokey mountain if you don't want to wait for mail.. Also, I have started using toothpicks, which help a lot. I bought some mint oil from gnc and made mint toothpicks,, makes your breath smell good. I never liked sunflower seeds that much. Never was a salt eater, and surely don't like the ones without salt. Keep quiten,, and i'll keep quiten with you.

Just figure out how to post on here. With a little help from a friend. I quitted dipping Skoal Straight Long Cut on March 25 2013 approx 12:30 in the afternoon was my last dip. I was told by an oral surgeon to stop now! or face consequances. I have dipped for approximately 17 years. I dipped a can a day. Since March 25 I have not had any. I have had a ton of sunflower seeds and chewing gum. I was very hard the first day or so. It was like I lost an old friend and did not know what to do with myself. I have three young boys. I have to be a good example for them. I do not want them seeing me destroy myself on something so simple, but yet so hard to quit. So far so good! I am on day eleven.
Way to go Aksn. I'll help you any way I can. I'll send you my numbers in a pm.

I know this shit is hard. I'm 132 days in and there are still days that are hard. But I know that if I can do this so can you.. It will get easier as time goes by. There will be funks to push through along the way but they will be less sever and less frequent as you get further away from your quit date. Just stay focused. These first two or three weeks will SUCK. Remember how these first few weeks feel. You don't want to have to do this again.

To the rest of you guys reading this, this is my friend and co worker. Give him your support. I know I don't have to ask you to do that but I'll ask any way. You guys have helped me so much this far, I know you will be a great asset to Aksn.
