I remember you desertmedic. Aug 14. You were ahead of me by a few days. You know where you went wrong. 100 days is not a hall pass otherwise you'd be posting 1408 today. 1 minute a day to post roll. If quitting truly matters you got to find a way to post consistently. Having a kid can change the outlook. Hope you can be quit this time.
Wow. Seeing that I was have been 1408 today is crazy... Makes me pissed at myself for sure but i know the error of my way. Honestly one of the hardest parts of coming back to this site was knowing that eventually, Someone from my original quit group would recognize me.....but that accountability is also why I came back.

I am very proud of you Done4me!!! 1408 is absolutely impressive, I know that i will get there.

Hope all is well

Posted my quit with you specifically today. Just wanted you to know you're not alone.
So what's with the medic and the desert?
A good friend of mine was a medic in the Airborne. Was in Mogadishu.
The first time I snowboarded I had a blast, spent the whole day on the mountain getting my butt kicked trying to learn how to do it. Then the next day I woke up with pain in muscles I didn't know i had. The pain served as a reminder of my own humility and what the new sport had done to me physically. Now with the birth of my daughter one week ago, I feel just as sore but it's in my head and my heart rather than my legs. As you said, there are emotions I didn't know that i had and in many ways, her birth is the puzzle piece that my life has been missing. Despite all this, she is not the reason I quit. I say that because I never wanted her attached to my addiction in that way, though when I am quit for months and years straight i will be proud knowing that she grew up knowing her father valued his life and his families lives above all else.

As far as "desertmedic" goes, I am a Firefighter/Paramedic and live in the Las Vegas valley.
One of my triggers to quit was on 1/1/2018 when my 3 year old son was unbeknownst to me outside of my shower. I spit a cat turd out and it hit the floor of the shower, I look over at his innocent bright eyes and he says "Daddy wassssss daaaatttt."

NOPE, NOTTA, FUCK NO....

Not going to be me, next day I was soo angry at myself and that was 64 days ago. I QUIT

I will do this one damn day at a time every damn day... for me.

You are the same, doing it for YOU but family is the motivation....

Same as me...

Proud to Quit With You Today
Be humble... grow everyday.

I fear I will always be chasing the vortex like a drug. None will be as special as my first hit.

My daughter was born 4 days ago. Nothing could have prepared for me how life-changing her birth would be. She is all I think about and now the nagging "I really need to quit chewing" is front and center in my brain.
When I found out we were having a little girl my brother in law started laughing. He said I would find emotions that I never knew I had. And then all of a sudden the lens with which I viewed the world changed and it became a terrifying place. And still, there was the can.
I was adamant that I would quit chewing when she was born. Not sure what derailed it or if I even started a quit back then (16 years ago - just got her a truck last week)
I can't change that now. I can change today. IQWYT.

Welcome, I'm glad you decided to quit, and that you came back here for support.

To be honest, huge red flags go off when I hear that someone is quitting because of the birth of a child (or marriage, or graduating college, or getting out of the military, or watever life changing event you're going through).

Some day the glow of having a new baby is going to wear off, and the stress and lack of sleep of being a new parent will start taking its toll. That's when this quit needs to be about you, and not the new baby.

So what do you need to do? Take an honest assesment - are you quitting for you, or are you quitting for the new baby? Until you answer that you are quitting for you, you have a slim chance of staying quit.

So, what do you need to do? I suspect you already know. You need to put the quit front a center in your life. At least for a while. You need to post roll early every day. For as long as this web site exists. You need to decide that this quit is for you.

As far as the 100 days thing goes, sometimes I wish that the 100 days was not celebrated at all around here. Sure, it's a big milestone, but it's not the end of anything (as evidenced by your cave). At 100 days, you understand how things work around here, and you have the tools to stay quit. But we all still need the support. becaue we are all addicts, and are $5 and a bad decision away from slavery.

So, post roll daily. Don't take days off when you'll be at a rodeo, or Christmas, or family vacations, or for anything. Make your promise. Keep your promise.
I will post roll every day absolutely. I am hurting right now, just staying on the site and reading stories. Thank you all for the welcome, its time to make things happen!
Good that you decided to get your shit in order. Bad that you are using the birth of your child as the reason. Congrats on her birth for sure, but to use that as the quit mechanism? Not buying it and neither will you having caved for less. As a retread, you are on a prove it daily basis. Did you go back to your original group and answer the 3 questions asked of every caver? What did they have to say? You need to be posting with both your new group and your original group on a daily basis. It may be hard to swallow for your pride, but if you want any credibility, you will come to understand it is the right way to go about it.
I am not quitting because of the birth of my child. But her birth combined with a million other reasons is why I am quitting, and its for me/because of me/affects me so it's MY quit and I'm aware of that. I answered the questions asked of me in my June quit group and the answers were received well. I was honest as I could be. Today is another day of being quit and i embrace it. Hopefully soon the nicotine will be completely out of my body and the true quit will start.
Learn to hate nicotine in all it's forms. I never quit until one day I was disgusted with how a plant was dictating how I lived my life.

I quit every day. So far I have been quit 16 hours. Tomorrow I will quit again and restart the clock. I am an addict who need a daily method to quit every day.
Some of my fondest and clearest memories are peeing in places that aren't bathrooms.

Hello all,

First of all I want to say that KTC is an incredible resource and I will always respect every member in this community. In 2014 I joined KTC, did roll call, and quit chewing for a little over 100 days! KTC was the only reason I was able to accomplish that feat. Unfortunately, I gave in and started chewing again. I regretted it the moment it happened and have regretted it since.

Flash forward four years...I am now 30 years old, which means I have been chewing almost exactly half of lifetime. I chewed Copenhagen Straight almost all hours of the day and gutted 99% of the time. The reason I am here again is that I know that I am ready to laugh in the face of this addiction and live a long a healthy life.

My daughter was born 4 days ago. Nothing could have prepared for me how life-changing her birth would be. She is all I think about and now the nagging "I really need to quit chewing" is front and center in my brain.

I hope you all will welcome me back into this community. My quit day is TODAY AND FOR FUCKING EVER.
Welcome back DesertMedic,

First of all, you did not quit in 2014, if you did quit, you would be coming up on four years quit. All you did was take a 100 day break.

I hope you are truly serious this time. Kids can be a tremendous motivation for us to quit, but if we are not fully into the quit, chances are we will cave. Do it for you brother.

Congratulations on the birth of your daughter. That will help keep you motivated. Since you are a retread, I don't need to remind of the importance of posting roll every morning.

Secondly, we quit one day at a time, forever is way too long of time span. Just focus on 24 hours at a time.

Keeping the right mindset will help keep you quit.

I will PM you my digits. Use them if you need to brother.

I am proud to quit with you today.

Chris
