You're an addict, Baylor. Just like me. People who aren't addicts quit without seeking out an Internet forum. We ain't them. We are addicts. We can't never, never, never, never, ever have even a teensy weensy bit of nicotine or else our brain will restart. Understand? No gray area. Quit or full blown addiction feeding. No in between.

It will take some time to reprogram the years you've spent addiction feeding, but it can be done. And it's so worth it. You can do this.

Post roll. Keep your word. Repeat.

End of the first 24 hrs and I am still quit! I have to say that my drive home from work was a BEAST as my lip was on fire and all I could think about was a dip. But, I resisted and am very proud right now as this is the first 24 hours in 15 years that I have not had any nicotine.

Also, the dizzy spells I have been reading about are definitely happening. I am also very tired but am having trouble sleeping. I will post roll in my group tomorrow to hold myself accountable to you guys for day 2.

Thank you for the comments today.....they were helpful and very appreciated.
Mr Bear, how strong is your fight? I want you to be completely into this quit. There is no going back, there is no cave, there is no choice. You have made the decision now you must fight like hell for it. You must understand that this quit can not be bargained for, it is an all or nothing item and one that is so rewarding that your addicted brain can not yet comprehend. Trust the quitters here, get involved in your group and post roll every damn day. The addiction bitch is going to be there every step of the way to lead you back to prison. When you feel your best, lookout because she is about to attack. The good news is there are many of us here that know exactly what you are going thru and we have made it to a point to help you get here. The choice has been made, there are no other options other than slavery.

Baylor,
Congrats on the first day of your new life. I'm on day 26 of my quit. Pretty much everything you read about happens. The "fog", the "suck", mouth sores, anxiety. Take the good advice that you get here. Drink lots of water and stay quit.

I quit with you today!

Welcome Baylor. You have made an excellent decision, one which you will not regret. This is not going to be an easy journey at first, but eventually you will look back on these struggles and realize that you successfully battled the chains of addiction. This is about getting you freedom back. No longer will you need to live your life in between dips. No more planning, wasting money, and poisoning yourself. Every minute you do not give into the temptation to dip, you are winning.

The story of the two wolves popped in my head when I read your intro so here it is for you. Read it and absorb it:

The Two Wolves- A Native American Cherokee Story

One evening an old Cherokee told his grandson about a battle that goes on inside people.

He said, “My son, the battle is between two wolves inside us all.

“One is Evil – It is anger, envy, jealousy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority, and ego.

“The other is Good – It is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion and faith.”

The grandson thought about it for a minute and then asked his grandfather: “Which wolf wins?”

The old Cherokee simply replied, “The one you feed.”
"Fuck nicotine dude. You don't need it. And you don't want it. It didn't do a thing for you and you know it." - worktowin
"today you dissided that shit wont control your life. and it wont. unless you let it." - drome
"Not thinking about nicotine is for people who've never used nicotine. We threw that option away with the first dip or drag on a cigarette. We are addicts, and cannot become un-addicted." - wildirish317
"You need to decide how much you really want to be quit." - pky1520
We are always at risk. And probably always will be. That is why I will never get "too quit" to post my +1. Every. Damn. Day. - geis2597

Great choice you have made! This is not a habit, this is a nasty addiction that you will have for life. You will always have this addiction: you can decide whether you want to be a slave to your addition by feeding it nicotine, or control you addiction and live free from slavery by staying quit. Post roll in your group, and help hold one another accountable while giving out lots of support.

Day one
« on: September 08, 2015, 02:49:00 PM »
Made the decision last night to throw away my remaining cans of Cope and QUIT. This is the first time in 15 years that I have not had a can of Cope on me or within reach. I HAVE to do this: for myself and for my family but, I am pretty intimidated about what is in store for me. Snuff has been such a integral part of my life for so long (which makes me furious at myself for letting this habit take over).

I have not yet started to feel symptoms that others have described but, I know they will come soon enough. Time to man up, get through day one and start over tomorrow.
